Underworld and Adidas
 

i know that UW were responsible for the Superstars Trainers created a while back, because of Karl's fondness of the shoes and the band's design hertitage, but i wondered if now, because of that involvement, Underworld were 'given' stuff by Adidas as part of a small sponsorship deal or whether they guys still bought their stuff from normal stores like most of us ( ;) )

i see Rick in recent pictures (on the 8th /9th October) wearing an Adidas tracktop, and that Karl has been sporting **'sparkling'** Superstar Trainers, which are either an exclusive pair or custom made... (i'd like to know more about those for sure!)

i'd be nice to know UW had some kind of deal with Adidas after their involvement, even if it was just getting free stuff now and again :)

i love Adidas gear, so i'm always happy to see the boys in it!! :)

I love adidas! The superstars trainers are the best and they look the coolest.

And I was thinking the same think, couple of years ago, if Underworld got some stuff for free from the company -- cause he has so many pairs!

But maybe he (Karl) is just a collector of adidas trainers, like Noel Gallagher, and buys them himself and Rick happends to have tracktops from them. But it would be nice to know, like you said.

i have my pair in the box still. sadly the style runs a half size small. i think mine are 8.5's if anybody wants to buy them from me.

I wear my pair. But only when it's sunny outside and there's zero chance for them to get dirty. :)
And 200$ really are too much. I paid 60€ and i'm fairly sure you still get them for that.

The color options are fairly limited but you can pick your materials and even get custom stitching on the side.

I actually bought them a while back. Definitely my favorite pair of shoes I have ever owned. Designed by Tomato/Underworld AND made by Adidas. Perfect combination.

You've just got to find the right clothes to wear with it. Just don't try to wear the u/w socks with the u/w shoes. Blech!

What year did the Tomato/Underworld Adidas come out? I just realized that the music in the commercials Tomato did is "Soopher", several years before we heard in on the radio show. You can watch the commercials on Tomato's website:

I remember once maybe a few months back on UWlive.com karl mantioning how a bunch of new addidas had come through the letter box.. something like that...

so i just presumed they got stuff free.. i wouldnt see why not to be honest.. they probably get payed to do it too, like sports players or something..

but i cant imagine the lads being so tied up in something... they arnt decked out in Addidas from head to toe...

..but id say there is a bit of "give-a-little, get-a-little" going on

wait - what track is "Soopher" again...?

to me those commercials sound like different edits of "050701 (music bank june 01).mov"

and the fourth commercial (where the pic shows the back of the shoe w/ red light) sounds EXACTLY like the music bank track at 1:49 into the video

I always thought that it went like: Music Bank track -> Biro -> Mo Move -> (back to) Biro -> Beautiful Burnout

Yup, you're right, that's "Soopher" in 050701. I haven't watched all those old movie clips yet. "Soopher" opened up the 2008-06-11 radio show.

I think it's a little erroneous for us to draw conclusions about song evolutions based on a few common elements. Obviously Soopher and Mo Move share a common opening, but beyond that, the structures and sounds of the songs are so different, I don't think they share any evolutionary path except for that common loop. Same thing for the drums in Mo Move and Beautiful Burnout. It's similar sounding, but not even the same rhythm, so I don't think there's any influence beyond Rick liking those drums.

My monitoring suggests that those miniatures emerged a few months ago. Haven't yet dared to risk money on them. To me, they look like cheap merchandise bootleg plastic rubbish. Does anybody on here have these?

well for that price, it's pretty cheap,
and waiting for them to come to the US
from China might be a pain..

we can have minature glitter shirts, glasses, and of course

OOOH i wish i had money for fashion expenses, besides semi-formal work wardrobe :/

last weekend i pimped my old & white superstars... into LAS VEGAS SHOWGIRL-style supahstars (i seriously want karl's oz shoes, but it seems they're a unique pair :( )
