wow!
bravo!
after two complete misses, the boys finally released the masterpiece!!! by far, Oblivion With Bells is tops in the catalog! not one throw away on it! to quote msr warner, "I Love This Band!!!" |
Re: wow!
It's not "tops" but it's up there. Great cd which really puts most electronic acts to shame. Very layered and detailed like all of UW's music. Surprisingly good flow. I stand by my B+ rating.

Unless you're referring to the last two Riverrun releases (which I haven't heard (:() so I can't criticize), I completely and utterly disagree with you. I mean, calling anything by Underworld a "miss" is practically heresy, right? :D |
Re: wow!
"after two complete misses"... don't agree with you on that.
But I do agree that this album is a masterpiece. |
Re: wow!
i used to think 'beaucoup fish' was better than 'second toughest in the infants' before i realised i never listen to the former, but i'll pull out STITI every month or so, while i'll pull out dubno all the time. 'a hundred days off', the first one i bought, i have to be in a certain kind of mood to hear.
so, now, for me, my order is: 1. Dubnobasswithmyheadman 2. Second Toughest In The Infants 3. A Hundred Days Off 4. Beaucoup Fish but i hope that Oblivion With Bells will disrupt my list thoroughly! |

I actually kind of agree. I find Beaucoup Fish the most Commercial. Not really keen on Cups and Push Upstairs as i tend to skip those although it has it's stand out tracks of Kittens and Jumbo for me. A hundred Days Off is an improvement for sure but again it has a few tracks i tend to skip. STITI to me is when Underworld gave attention to detail. The layers on Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream Of Love made me think this there finest 16 plus minutes! The dramatic Banstyle/Sappy's Curry. The guitar part i really dig.I love Underworld making use of the guitar. Just listen to Phonestrap 1! That track would of made an interesting add on to Oblivion With Bells. I do think Underworlds turning point was The RiverRunProject after AHDO. Back to experimenting.Trying out new flavours and it's damn exciting! |
