Ring Road in Family Guy "Star Wars" episode

5:54 into the episode, when Stewey/Vader has to guess which briefcase Lois/Leia has hidden something.

wow, that's weird. It really is Ring Road, isn't it?

Haven't heard Ring Road yet, so I didn't recognize it...

If it is, though, wow. Weirdest placement for an Underworld song ever.

Re: Ring Road in Family Guy "Star Wars" episode

and how did they get early access to it...

It's not like it's really used the song because it's that song, though. They just used the opening beats as a backing rhythm track for an 8 second Deal or No Deal joke.

Question for Rick/Karl/Underworld HQ-

Did the producers of Family Guy have permission to use that track, before the official release of the record?

It really is Ring Road. weird. its only a few seconds but its easily recognisable. Unfortunately im guessing that we are the only UW fans nerdy enough to recognise this...

you can't really hear much. i haven't heard the full song, myself, so it just sounds like background music to me. i've heard them use 'mmm skyscraper i love you' in an advert for 'nick news' about 4 years ago, so it's not totally weird.

that's really obscure. nice catch.

so I guess when the 'sound guy' was pressed for filler background music, he had the OwB promo lying around.

Re: Ring Road in Family Guy "Star Wars" episode

the official word is that they made the episode 5 years ago, the underworld kid sampled it 3 years ago... then got friendly with them and stuff and did their own complely uw animated show telling story about their lemonworld day life with malcom getting sauna like burn from the chimp trying to make coffee wires hole making all over the place, try to hunt for little insects in there making back vocal choir mmm yeah and tbc.

i just watched it again. sounds like Ring Road alright, but it seems too odd to be in there. I mean that episode had to have been produced so long ago - how'd they get hold of it?

Family Guy and Underworld... this is like a marriage between two of my favorite things. Anyway.. we must get to the bottom of this. Very curious indeed.

By the way, they showed a preview (about 10 minutes) of this episode at Star Wars Celebration IV... which was in May. And it included this clip, but Ring Road was not in the video at that point. You can still see the preview here:

So yes, the episode has been around for a long time, but they must have added Ring Road somewhat recently.

that's pretty much out of the fucking question, if you ask me -- you won't find something that carefully crafted on a 'sample CD'.

Re: Ring Road in Family Guy "Star Wars" episode

that episode sampler is a different clip which has been edited since, and the finished airing is pretty different, because the whole set up is different (even the end of that scene has been chopped), so it's quite possible that they finished the aired bit off fairly recently and added in the music...

although its sounds like ring road, i'm not 100% sure its the exact same track...

Maybe when OWB comes out we'll see a liner note that some sample was used ....?

well the music on the original US version of Deal or No Deal is by Groove Addicts, and as I am not privvy to the D or ND show in the US, i'm assuming that Family Guy didn't just use the music off Deal or No Deal in their Star Wars Episode...

(there is obviousy no credit at the end of Family Guy either - i checked that)

yeah, Bruce lee sucks. Good point. ;)

Not sure why people don't want to believe its Ring Road. It's pretty clear to me.

Somebody who has OWB... is there anything suspicious in the liner notes about this song?

I seriously doubt that Rick took the sample from somewhere... but we better rule that out 100% if we can...

Re: Ring Road in Family Guy "Star Wars" episode

Nope, nothing in the liner notes mentions it.
