Underworld - The Crocodile Thread

news from the ether...

The Radio Edit of this single is 3'50"
The LP Version of this single is 8'57"

a two track promo is 'out' there...

King of Snake 08-07-2007 07:25 AM

Re: The Crocodile Thread

8.57! That's nice indeed, cause I felt that the one Tong played (that's probably the promo version then) could have stretched out certain parts a little bit longer.
What about a 12" version?

where's this info coming from?

ah ok, so those are the tracks on the promo, and there isn't a "promo version" as such? Than what was Tong playing, cause that was a little over 6 minutes...?

Re: The Crocodile Thread

i must say that i don't have the promo - its just that i know what's on it...

just wanted to share the details :)

i assume that the album version is the one that Tongy played because it sounds like it fades into the next track... it is possible that he may have edited down for the show, which is what Tongy has done before...

pitchfork promo is also 6:43. either that time for the lp version was wrong (my guess) or the lp version is going to have 2 additional minutes! heavenly. i could do with a 12min epic old school mix. this does have a distinct dubno vibe.

well, the pitchfork rip is cut short on the end. i'm assuming that is the LP version and we just weren't fortunate enough to get the full outro.

Underworld's myspace page also has Crocodile streaming on their player. Same length as the Pitchfork stream.

Well, it appears the Myspace stream was sourced from the Pitchfork rip that viddy did, so of course it's the same length. :)

More then its bloody worth. Double figures. It'll be worth pennies after the release, just the initial buzz.

Played on Colin Murray on BBC1 and George Lamb on BBC6.

Did Two Months Off get a lot of airplay?

well if you want to know the album version is actually 8:57 long

although those who have listened to the pitchfork rip of 6 minutes 43 ish will note that it fades into BB towards the end.

well the LP version i have does that, then runs for a further two minutes of really quite ambient noodly twidly stuff that does nothing more than loop and kinda fade for two minutes... there's no more vocals and beats, you're not actaully missing anything (its kinda like an installation piece) its nice but does not add to the track as heard already and hence is perhaps why the rips are 6:43 long

the radio edit is pretty sweet though - as it condenses the best bits of the track into just under 4 minutes... i'm kinda getting an 80's vibe from the melody when i hear this... which i personally like

any more info will follow....

Two Months Off (King Unique Sunspots Vocal Mix)
Two Months Off (John Ciafone Vocal Remix)
Two Months Off (Desyn Masiello and Leon Roberts remix)
Two Months Off (Osamu M feat.Yuuki mix)

these are the remixes I know and heard in mixes but I think there are even more bootlegs available..the Osamu M remix never surpassed the CDR status as far as I know. For at least one year that track was played up and down in different remixes from DJ I listen to.

well the last two mixes listed above were made by the DJ's who mixed them for their own personal use and generally played in their own mixes, afaik, they may have sent them out to a couple of their dj friends, but they were certainly not played as promotional tools for the single /album

TMO got lots of radio edit airplay, i.e the single version was played a bit on radio one's dancey shows like Tong and Dave Pearce and the Judge if i recall lately....

looks like MTV have been playing the Crocodile video

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=SGe5f5CbXcU

but i assume this just an old video, because from what we understand Simon Taylor has been in filming the band for the track...

so this is just a load of cobbled togther Tomato graphics - nice

i hope we do see the finished 'band' video....

Re: Underworld - The Crododile Thread

Pete Tong has listed the Crocodile single as Junior Boys Own on his Radio 1 tracklisting, i'm almost certain that this is wrong...

afaik, JBO are not releasing this single, perhaps Tongy needs to be told, unless someone at JBo sent him his copy direct - and just assumed its still a JBO release... ;)

Re: Underworld - The Crododile Thread

Man, Underworld never cease to amaze me. They drop a track off the new album - and not only is it nothing like anything they've released in the past five years, but it's some of the best material we've heard out of them since dubnobass.

Also, is there some kind of update email thing I can add myself to, to get notified of things like new gigs or album updates?

Re: Underworld - The Crododile Thread

Holy crap, man, I didn't even notice that! Funny how our brains work.

By the way, I've just figured out what Crocodile reminds me of: Daniel Johns' vocal work in The Dissociatives. If you haven't heard of them they're an awesome dance-ish sort-of-pop-but-not-really duo from Australia; Aussie dance god Paul Mac + Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns. They only had one album a while back (another is said to be on the way) but it's definitely worth checking out. Fave tracks are We're Much Preferred Customers (that's the Crocodile vocal corellation), Thinking in Reverse and Forever and a Day.

PS apparently their myspace is still online despite the fact that they haven't been active since 2004 www.myspace.com/thedissociatives

it was spelt right when i set it up then some n00b changed it in a drunken haze, i assume, then it was changed back to the correct spelling, now it appears someone has been on the grog again and changed it, i thought admin and / or mods were supposed to be responsible people... :p

someone else is having 'fun' and sadly as a 'responsible' member of Dirty i've no authority on these forums, they tend to give that to people who abuse their powers ;)

What does one's name have to do with one's identity? "A rose by any other name," the old master said, "would smell as sweet."
