Oh yeah!
Glad this is finally seeing the light of day. Last i read (at ye olde loopz Orbital forum), the set was delayed indefinitely.

But this is good news!

any info on who chose these performances and why they chose them? most of disc 2 looks horrible with the exception of a few tracks. any additional info on bonus features?

Re: Orbital - Live At Glastonbury: 1994 - 2004 (2CD & DVD)

Don't know who chose the performances, but it looks to me like they tried to get 2 or 3 tracks from each of the performances, with a focus on the tracks that were released as singles.

CD 1 looks quite excellent, and CD 2 is great with the possible exception of Frenetic, which seemed to fall a bit dead when performed live.

Still, I'm just glad there is finally an official Orbital live release, even if it is a few years after the band called it a day.

I have boots of these performances already, and think it's a fine selection...covers just about all the tracks they performed live at Glasto, and moves chronologically to the final performance, which is just mental!
Also, imho, even the latter-day tracks on disc 2 sounded great live, including Frenetic, which is much more of a remix or build-it-up version live than Orbital usually did (i.e. most of their performances were so smooth that the differences between live and studio versions were typcially subtle).
But to see the performance on the DVD will be worth it, alone!

to be fair after years of being sold ket and all sorts of other shite mascarading as mdma those mitis were like a blast from the past. i'll always remember a golden night @ Bugged Out! back in 98 just after it moved to Cream in liverpool where the atmosphere was truly empathic and loved up. nearly as nice as the windmills which followed ;)

anyways stimps right that 99 festival was blazing HOT after two years of mud and Orbital were rocking

Although as great as they were u can have too much of a good thing cos there was a period of a year when the strength of them went throught the roof and just left u completely monged on the dancefloor.................probably explains why trance and its hugely long breakdowns got so huge at the time :D

awesome!

i was a regular at glastonbury from about 1991 to 1999 and i can't remember if it was the 1994 or 1995 performance, but one of those from orbital was when dance music finally arrived at glastonbury big time. they played on the pyramid stage in the early evening and the whole of glastonbury was rocking - absolutely goosebumps-on-the-arms, hair-on-back-of-neck-standing, fucking amazing.

it was the performance of the festival that year and one i'll always remember fondly so it'll be great to look back now over 10 years later :)

94, only remember as i bunked off school with a mate, missing our mock A level history paper. paid some crusty with a fiver to climb under the fence in the hole he supposedly dug. all the weekly/monthly music mags were wanking over their performance, and we got suspended for the last week of school, which for some strange reason the headmaster thought punishment:D

99: saw the two best ever electronic performances in my life, UNderworld and then Orbital. I was in the back and this carnival type parade came right through the crowd with these large floats and dancers wearing body suits of glitter. I remember thinking how packed it was and how people were climbing the flag poles to see the stage. I was the greatest night of music in my life.

yeah i agree - i got mine last week and watched the DVD straight away

its really nice, although it would have been better as a coherent performance, but still its nice to have the best ofs on one disc...

although at the end of almost every track Orbital seem to shout thank you you're been great (because each track is probably the last in the set from that year!) its good to see how popular their sets at Glasto were...

buy this and watch Orbital this weekend, instead of Glasto, not sure many of the dancey acts on will be as good as Orbital were...

Compare UK online shops for this here

Seems to be The Hut and £11.72 with free delivery the cheapest which is a bargain for a 3 disc set.

For people in NL, cd-wow.nl has it delivered for €19.99 (bol.com is charging €23.99 plus post )

...that was good; but '94 was the daddy of orbital-at-glastonbury sets  impact/remind was cracking; and the first-soundings of snivilisation tracks were superb!

nme stage - it was the year dance really arrived there...

the year after was their first pyramid performance, early doors (if memory serves me well) - pictures of john major's face being crossed out raising a massive cheer!

happy daze :)

Re: Orbital - Live At Glastonbury: 1994 - 2004 (2CD & DVD)

hmm; ok; it's a very nice thing to have in an 'i was there, thanks for the memories' type-way; and there's hairs-on-end moments (ie hearing 'warning warning nuclear attack!' for the first time) - but the sound is absolutely shocking - 3rd-rate bootleg quality. i'm pleased they're not charging too much for it, because 'everything everything' it very most certainly isn't!

but it got me thinking - while uw are pretty much exciting mates live; orbital were best at being emotional, like family...
