Hospital Records
What do you all think of this great little DnB label? It was founded by the london elektricity guys (the main reason they actually went from 2 to 1)....but it has some amazing acts on it, overall one of my favorite labels.
Anyone else got any good DnB recommendations in terms of labels or artists? It's my new addiction. |
Re: Hospital Records
hi!
my favorite Hospital things are: Klute - Part of Me 12" Cyantific - Little Green Men / Quiet Star 12" Seba & Paradox - Move On 12" High Contrast - High Society LP you may want to check out the Soul:R / Revolve:R, Signature, Critical, and Bassbin labels. there are loads of minor liquid-type labels that i don't really follow, but some artists you might like are: Calibre (Second Sun LP!), Marcus Intalex/M.I.S.T., Random Movement, Martyn, D-Bridge, Survival, and Icicle. i just listened to a bunch of Icicle tunes last night and was really into them - slick, funky, techstep/liquid hybrid biz. also, Hospital have a new side-label called Med School. the Fracture & Neptune 12" is absolutely stunning, and the Icicle 12" is quite nice. Hospital's no small label either! |

as far as drum & bass in general, my favorite labels right now are:
Offshore, Inperspective, Subtle Audio, Counter Intelligence, Outsider, Bassbin, Exegene (free netlabel!) favorite artists atm: Martsman, Graphic, Macc, Breakage, Alpha Omega, ICR, Dissident, Martyn, ASC EDIT: i'd add the following LPs to the above classics list: Foul Play - Suspected Omni Trio - The Deepest Cut A Guy Called Gerald - Black Secret Technology V/A - Platinum Breakz |
Re: Hospital Records
my interest in Drum and Bass ended in 1995, as you can tell by my list.
i'll second Offshore though, that's a great label. |
Re: Hospital Records
wow. this is an amazing thread so far!!! some yummy stuff to look into!
anyways, i got the new klute albumn: emperors new clothes, and it's great! |
Re: Hospital Records
my last few purchase have been from these labels:
Celsius, Fokuz, Horizons, Spearhead, phunkfiction mostly these artists BCee, Lomax, Kubiks |
Re: Hospital Records
oh, i almost forgot Commix, whose "Talk To Frank" seems to have been the anthem that inspired a lot of tunes by Lomax et al, as well as this techy-liquidy trend.
i wish i could find their $#@$# EP on Headz. Quote:

Cyantific - Little Green Men / Quiet Star 12"
Me loves this one too. |
Re: Hospital Records
High Society by High Contrast was my good time of 2005 !
My other favourites are: Photek - Modus Operandi Photek - Form & Function (Compilation) Teebee - The Legacy A Guy Called Gerald - Black Secret Technology |
Re: Hospital Records
the most albums by any one dnb artist (not mixes or compilations) i have is Omni Trio (it would have been Photek if you counted singles/eps):
Deepest Cut (japanese edition with bonus cd3) Haunted Science Skeleton Keys Byte Size Life Even Angels Have Shadows (this had a few tracks that were really good but overall i didnt like it as much as the previous albums) |

you may also enjoy the Black Rain LP - All Tomorow's Food. Black Rain = Omni Trio + Deep Blue. Omni Trio's last ever 12" was his remix of "808" by oS from last year. really beautiful. *** some recent drum & bass LPs well worth hearing: Alpha Omega - Word Of Mouth (next-level Reinforced/Photek styles with Detroit flavas) V/A - Offshore Presents: Buried Treasure Vol. 1 (fresh, glitchy, minimal) Rufige Kru - Malice In Wonderland (modern-day futuristic Headz vibes) Seba & Paradox - Beats Me (epic, rose-tinged Source Direct-esque drumfunk) Breakage - This Too Shall Pass (mournful, dubwise, rolling jungle) Calibre - Second Sun (romantic, pastoral dnb?!) |
