Cocoon: New Setlist & Cue Sheet - update

Stimpee hijacking this post:

Ok boys and girls, here is how to split the widely spread 160kbps 4hr 04min 43 sec (244:43) mp3 Cocoon broadcast. If you follow these detailed instructions to the letter you'll have the mp3's in no time at all:
  1. Get the 160kbps 4hr 04min 43 sec (244:43) mp3
  2. Install CueSplitter 0.6beta11 or better from somewhere. Here's a link to the download. Its freeware.
  3. Get the CUE file. This was originally made by Badger and then tidied up by me for formatting and mp3 tag output reasons.
  4. Open CueSplitter and open the cue file. This will automatically open the mp3 if its in the same folder. Make sure the cue and mp3 are in the same folder!
  5. Into the Comment: field copy this important message: www.underworldlive.com / rtsr.rowla.com NOT FOR SALE
  6. Into the Year: field, simply type 2006.
  7. For the File Mask click the +(Add) and type in a mask name of anything you like, and a mask of %n %a - %t. This will leave a track with, for example 01 Underworld - Born Slippy. Click Accept and make sure that this mask is selected in the main window.
  8. Press F6 to bring up the Config window and in the CUE file mask and m3u file mask boxes, just type %T (capital T), then click Accept.
  9. From the Genre: list, select Electronic (easiest way is to click on the list and press E, then select it)
(If you want to really know how to use CueSplitter, then there is an up-to-date tutorial on all the features.)

You are now ready to split the mp3. Click the Split! button and in a few seconds it will be done. This will create 36 mp3's that are tagged with Name, Title, Track Number, Genre and Comment, and are named in a numbered format with Artist and Title. It will also create a labelled WinAmp .m3u playlist and a new .cue file also.

Macintosh users: There is a freeware tool also called cue-splitter for MacOS X that will take the above mp3 and cue files, allow you to similarly split and tag the mp3 with Name, Title, Track Number and Genre, and name the files in a numbered format with Artist and Title.

EDIT: Some Mac users are finding that cue-splitter v2.6 and v2.5.2 crash when you click "split". The solution is to use v2.2.2 but there is a check inside it which means it will only run on MacOS 10.3. If youre using MacOS 10.3 this isnt a problem, but if you're using 10.4 the solution is below. I know this easy fix works because I made it myself!

1. get the cue-splitter v2.2.2
2. get HexEditor 2.0 from macupdate.com or versiontracker.com
3. load in the cue-splitter to HexEditor.
4. find Resources/MacOS and go to offset 00009E10
5. look for 10.3, change to 10.4.
6. save and run :)

Apologies to Badger for hijacking his post.

Someone explain to me why this new cue sheet is in a word document with no text and only pictures?

stimpee 10-17-2006 12:35 PM

Re: Cocoon: New Setlist & Cue Sheet

open the doc in word, cut paste to paint, save as bmp, load into SimpleOCR (freeware)

Hey Stimpee, i tried to do that and it said it couldn't convert the page!

Any help would be good. I'm new to all this.

I would but im rubbish at that sort of thing.

Re: Cocoon: New Setlist & Cue Sheet

Yeah, I can't get this into txt, not even with that program. It took ages to convert it to paint, it liked being strectched into the whole picture...

Does anyone have an actual .cue file for this?

TheBang 10-17-2006 09:44 PM

Re: Cocoon: New Setlist & Cue Sheet

It obviously exists as text somewhere (where else would the picture have come from?). Badger, can you copy and paste the text into notepad?

Re: Cocoon: New Setlist & Cue Sheet

Track 2 is by Darren Price.
Track 6 is a mix of "Johannes Heil - One", "Adam Proll - Fetch My Blades", "Guido Schneider - Animism". They are all on the Cocoon Compilation F.
Track 22 is Underworld - [unknown] ("All these Things (In Me)").

Great cuesheet for a first attempt and theres only a few niggles I can see that could be brought up. Firstly is that the song titles have some / and ?'s in the names. This causes problems for the programs that automatically split the large mp3 into small files based on song title, as filenames cant have either of these characters in. Secondly, you could indent some of the fields to make it easier to browse the cue file from track to track. Thirdly, your spelling and punctuation is worse than Mattval's! :D

Thanks again for the effort on this!

Re: Cocoon: New Setlist & Cue Sheet

I've been messing around with this but can't get it to split.
The mp3 file I have is 4:04:43 long / 160kbps / 280 MB

I copied and pasted the cue list into notepad then changed the extension to .cue and use cuesplitter or musicutter to try and split.

It takes ages going through it all then reports errors at the end, creates a very small file for Globe and nothng else. (it skips all the other tracks)

Any idea where I am going wrong?

I'm still enjoying the full set though, thanks to everyone involved in getting this out.

Re: Cocoon: New Setlist & Cue Sheet

huzzah!
success!
I renamed the mp3 to the name in the cue and hey presto, it works with cuesplitter, it's funny that musicutter got confused over that, but nevermind I've got it now, thanks dubno.. and stimpee.

Re: Cocoon: New Setlist & Cue Sheet - update

there's a line at the beginnig of the cue-sheet which specifies the file it expects. if they don't match -> error.
most of the time this filename is the same as the cuesheet's one, so renameing the mp3 file did the trick.

I can understand that, which is why cuesplitter didn't work but musicutter went through the whole process (seemed to be splitting tracks and writing them for about 15-20mins:eek:) and reported that track 1 (globe) was ok but all the other tracks were skipped.

Re: Cocoon: New Setlist & Cue Sheet - update

I've found that using Adobe Audition is also very easy for splitting the MP3. Very easy to use as well and may be on some PC's allready.

let it be known that stimpee is awesome :D

i had the mac 10.4 issue with cuesplitter 2.6 like you mentioned. sure enough, after downloading the hex editor, the program worked exactly as it should.

+1000 points for clear, well-documented instructions!

Agreed! Follow those directions and the file splits easy! i used Cue Splitter for PC and the cue file in this thread and had no problems at all.

Cheers to all for working on the cue, the various audio sources, helpful advice in the forums, well, just for being you! :D
