300
Not seen anyone talking about this here.
Warners have now released an official trailer (click) I think this is looking incredible, one of the most mouthwatering trailers I've seen in a long time. Kickassery galore. Just hope the movie 'works' and isn't all style over substance. |
Re: 300
1 ticket sold to me already....hot damn!:cool::cool::cool:
|
Re: 300
I'd like it better if it was less fantastic...
...still gonna be there opening night. |
Re: 300
Lord of The Rings meets Gladiator meets Troy meets Sin City meets The Matrix meets....?
let's hope it can live up to any of those movies. Trailer looks cool but also shows potential of being really bad/silly/corny. :) |
Re: 300
the graphic novel is great and the trailer looks just like the graphic novel and my friends who saw the ComiCon footage said it looks amazing. high hopes!

Re: 300
I never read 300 because the comic is oversized. Anyone who's read my Tomato ranting knows how I feel about needlessly oversized comics and books.. I boycott them. If it doesn't fit on my shelf, I don't buy it. ;) But it does look ridiculously awesome and I'll see the movie no doubt. That trailer is too hot.

Re: 300
Looks enticing and delighting.

I bought this from Amazon last week - it's very short, but it looks incredibly similar to the trailer. Can't fucking wait. |
Re: 300
wowza. it's pretty much the graphic novel in motion. I'd say better done than Sin City, leaving it to your personal tastest between the two books to determine which movie you like more. People that hadn't read it did mention it was a bit like watching a World of Warcraft game but whatever.. so much hacking, so much slashing. it was awesome.

Re: 300
guys, I saw this film at a test-screening this summer (august i think it was) and it is, like KoS suggested Gladiator meets Sin City, in all the right ways. the action sequences often speed-up/slow-down to highlight key hits and slashes, the blood spurting effects look quite like the book, and the acting is pretty solid all around (save for the hunchback, who i found a little annoying). my only minor issue with it was you could tell it was shot on a minimal stage with mostly green screen around. then again, not all the effects were finished when i saw it. also, the music was all temp so i can't comment on that. i'll defeinitely being seeing it properly when it's released.

Re: 300
These trailers make me want to shoot 'roids and snort a bunch of crank and run buck naked through the streets of Westwood jabbing at the rich Persians (harmlessly) with a pointy stick. |

Re: 300
The trailer in 1080p is really a joy to watch. Can't wait to see this movie.

Re: 300
Just saw it and I was blown away!!!
Mindbending visuals and audio, an unknown cast of great actors, stunning (and bloody) action scenes, and a great story all make this a MUST SEE! The only way you'll not dig this is if you're a pussy or if you're sick or tired. :p Go see it ASAP.:cool::cool: |
Re: 300
This is going to be one hell of year for the movie industry. This is just the beginning of good fun indeed.

Re: 300
did we see the same movie??!?!? I found it BORING
first of all, it was a bit disctracting when I realized that you could seamlessly add "FUCK YEA!" after every other sentence in the film (edit) seriously, try it when you see the movie: "we're spartans" (Fuck yea!) "you are my queen" (Fuck YEA!) 'you won't like this (f-yea) then it was so violent that it lost all of its meaning. Like - I got bored just watching beheading after beheading (how many were there in total? it felt like a lot) also - it was just obnoxious how many times they had close-ups of bloody spears... not that you saw it going through a person, it was just montage after montage of - oh look! a spear with blood on it... what's that - oh a spear, with blood on it... guess what? more spears with blood! and the voice of the 10-12 foot transvestite (the main bad guy) seemed improperly dubbed over... and fake sounding (ok - he wasn't in drag, and that might've been somewhat historically accurate, but I couldn't stop thinking of Dennis Rodman half the time) and what was up with his Crab-Man? He's only in one scene, and had giant crab-claws for arms ...and he beheads someone... I thought this was supposed to not include mythology? Not a horrible movie, visually (I really thought that the oracle sequence was great... even when you see the dude who bribes them & he fades to black), but you see the same images over and over again - and it looses value. the script was horrible, but I wasn't expecting much to begin with. Now - I saw it in a semi-big theater... I would not reccommend seeing it in any sort of smaller venue, even dvd. I actually vow that I won't watch it on dvd, b/c then it'd be the most boring, long-ass movie ever to include gratuitus close-ups of bloody spears fuck yea |
Re: 300
Glad to see I'm not the only one who wasn't swayed/brain washed by this film. Yes, the visuals are impressive, but man was this boring. I gotta agree with Joe on some of the spear montages.
The film could've been a solid 90 minutes. Ninety minutes of mindless, unadultered violence. I found no real point of connection with the story or even the visuals. There is a good film scattered in bits and pieces amongst this one. Granted I did find myself grinning at points throughout the film, but not enough to recommend the film to anyone. I can admire what the film is technically, but that is about it. I found the extended cut of the trailer from the comicon footage to be far more enjoyable. Additionally, they should've just used that nine inch nails song throughout the entire film's battle sequences, or hired Trent to make an uber extended version of the track plus other music Did anyone else notice how they lifted the choral theme from Julie Taymor's Titus and just added some vocals? Did anyone else chuckle when the queen said, "Freedom isn't free...."? I wanted to yell out, "It costs a buck-oh-five!" |
Re: 300
To each his own I suppose. It's not an oscar film so don't think I'm claiming it to be like "movie of the year" material. It's just a good time at the movies for people who enjoy bloody fight scenes, and it's certainly not a thinker's film. I love some of the twists and surprises and believe that the story was entertaining and served the on-screen action well. The arrows in this clip alone warrant a ticket purchase if you ask me.........Click;)
Bravo WB. |

Too silly for me. I like Frank Miller (most of the time), and some of the visuals were great...I should have just listened to The Fragile on headphones.

A few dudes stab a lot of dudes. Then they do that again for 2 hours. It was awesome.

Re: 300
This is Peter Jackson without any control.
Read the comic. A lot shorter and the visuals are still spot on. |
Re: 300
For me was so boring too. I mean yeah the vfxcore and what else??
i think is just a really flashy movie for comic fans.. but its a bit retarded they stab each other a bit too much. i think vfx movies (Unless you are robert rodriguez) should be short. that is why Peter Jackson and his lord of the rings are so dammn boring too (ahahah..) |
