Arrested Development

Hey everyone who liked this show:

The third season comes out on Tuesday.

I don't know who has been following the news of the show post cancellation, but it's running something like this: Showtime made them an offer to continue, and the creator of the show said he wasn't willing to do it. He did say, at the time, that he would be interested in doing a feature film. Tony Hale (Buster) and whatever-her-name-is (Maebe) have both said, recently, that the feature is still a possibility.

I'm strongly urging fans of the show to get out there on Tuesday and by the new season right on release day. High sales might cause Showtime to come back with a higher offer (which, rumours say, was a factor); high sales might also make the film more likely.

And it's bloody worth it. I really think the show is the funniest thing ever.

Get out there and buy it on Tuesday.

Best. Show. EVAR.

If i were rich, the first thing i would do would be to order 2 more seasons of episodes be created.

Re: Arrested Development

The characters are insanely good. The whole second season with the dad upstairs in the attic, when he's going crazy talking to the dolls and shit...and I can't get over George Michael. That kid's comic timing/delivery is amazing. Plus his girlfriend "Yam" rules. "She puts a hard boiled egg in her mouth and then squirts a package of mayonnaise in there! She calls it a Mayonnegg!"

But, yes, as Tom said, "Gob is everything a man should aspire to be."

Has the second season come out in Oz yet?

I was bidding on the "You're killing me, Buster" banner on ebay. The whole plot line with his hand was unbelievable.

I'm midway through a revisit of season one and I'm loving GOB throwing dead animals into the ocean. I'd forgotten about it.

"RETURN FROM WHENCE YOU CAME!"

"Yeah, but where'd the lighter fluid come from?"

Also: Gob's idea for "Fuck Mountain".

HERE HERE!

This would be on my list if I were someone like Paul Allen who restored this amazing theater in downtown seattle and saved it from the wrecking ball.

www.cinerama.com

That theater is incredible. I was able to see 2001:A Space Odyssey twice there in November 01 as part of it's very limited 70MM rerelease. The place is cathedral like.

Also included on my list would be to allow Terry Gilliam to make films, but this one is some what questionable after recent viewing of Tideland.

Co-financing another season of A.D. would be a worthy cause to throw GOBS of money at.

Oh, and hiring Rick and Karl to play at my apt. or a local club, mainly selected ambient and recent RiverRun pieces.

I'd say sales are going pretty good. I was in HMV today and season 1 is still #11 in their top DVD TV sales! Season 1 has been out for ages so that must be good.

Re: Arrested Development

I'd have to say Gob and Tobias are the two of the three funniest characters ever on TV (the third being David Rasche in Sledge Hammer! but that's another story). The 3rd season had some of the best endings in their episodes...like the return of J. Walter Weatherman and the thing where the train set gets destroyed...how fucking genious was THAT? And of course the episode with Franklin and "Mock Trial with J. Reinhold"..

Over at the amazon page for Season 3 there is a video interview/reflection on the show with Jason Bateman. It's about 5-6 minutes and worth a viewing.
