why are caravans no. 2 on the list? that's the uk term for mobile home, right? how are they annoying?

not mobile homes; but trailers. they're number 2 because they're slow and clog up country roads all summer, happy to have a 5 mile queue behind them because they who lack the imagination to go on holiday to experience something different. they drag their home from home around in order to spend time with like-minded folk in their own homes-from-home.

Riko: caravans are the smaller, transportable "mobile homes", if you want to term it that way. More like a big tin can with wheels on, and extraordinarily irritating when you are in slow-moving traffic in the summer stuck behind them when you would normally be racing along the road at a reasonable speed.

the thing is the more popular something is then the more people that there out there will hate it...

take Man United for example... the country's most popular Football team, but also the most hated...

and its almost a catch 22, because, a lot of people just hate Man United or James blunt because they are popular (although, granted there are other reasons more prevalant in both cases why these two are hated, which i don't need to go into now)


also when i first read the list i thought it said 'Cold play' at the top of the list, oh they are more annoying than the Blunt

in the US - you have RV's which are massive, but also massive roads on which to drive them... even country roads can cope with them...

i pressume there is some kind of anti RV lobby somewhere in the US, but i bet its not as voiciferous as the anti caravan lobby here... because between April and Oct every weekend of the year you get Mr & Mrs Dull out on the roads in the caravans slowing down the traffic and clogging up the road network

they are seriously hated by 95% of motorists, the other 5% tow caravans at the weekends...

James Blunts the lot of them....

I think RV's are far too popular in the US.

thanks for explaining the caravans thing. it's true they're generally not an annoyance in the states because most of our roads have multiple lanes and you can just pass them by. but i have been on some mountain roads where they slow traffic down. the nicer drivers will pull over every now and again so people can pass and unclog the backup, so to speak, but there will be the annoying ones who trundle along and slow everyone down for miles and miles.
