Muse - Black holes and revelations!

Love it! Best work so far in my little opinion - this time the world ends with funk!

I find the single (Super Massive Black Hole) VERY sexy, very good, but a lot of Muse fans seem to disagree. But I haven't heard any of their earlier stuff.

Muse fans don't like this album because Muse fans are fuckwits.

I've been tellign everyone for AGES i'm not a fuckwit!!

Na, i've followed muse since showbiz and loved their stuff but this new album is fresh and has gone in a fantastic new direction. I think those not accepting their new album are those who are heavy riff mad, which they have semi deviated from.

Every song I've heard from this band made me think, "Gee, these guys sound eerily like Radiohead."

I know. The first part of Knights of Cydonia (which is the song they play all the time on the radio) sounds just like Radiohead. But the second part doesn't really, so I though hmm...this must not be Radiohead. The second part of that song reminds me of Queen.

I like Muse beacuse they sound like the band that Radiohead should have become before they disappeared up their own arse several years ago.

I downloaded the album a while back and bough tit yessterday...will probalby have a proper 'listen' over the weekend. Its fucking excellent, very Queen II which is a plus for me. And I'm stold they recorded all the tracks sequentually...nice touch.

How do Muse sound like Radiohead beyond the falsetto vocals? I've never understood this comparison.
I'll probably pick this up at some point but it's not at the top of my to-buy list. I like Muse though. Particularly after seeing them at some mimed Radio 1 thing years back when they'd taken umbrage with not being able to play live and when Matt came out on-stage to 'play' Muscle Museum he did so without a guitar (though one was clearly playing to the audience) and then took to screaming and bashing the mike on the front of the stage before comandeering the drum kit and semi-destroying it before they were bundled off-stage. Great stuff.

I heard the catchy ass single (supermassive black hole) and bought the album.....mistake cause that's one of the only songs I like. Everything else is too mopey dopey and they sing a little too, um.....Queen-ish:( sometimes.

Second half of Knights and a lot of the guitar work overall is solid. Maybe it'll grow. I'm leaning towards no at this point. Damn.

this band is completly ridiculous.

faux-operatic nonsense that drowns in its own sense of limpid tragedy

Every band is characterized by their front man. That's how they sound like Radiohead. Still like 'em though. Hope to catch them in Phoenix, but that will be during finals week, so it's iffy.

Front PERSON, pardon me. Gwen of No Doubt came to mind.

Re: Muse - Black holes and revelations!

now had a chance off a good listen to the album. Cracking stuff, a little bit of everything, a bit of pop, a bit of Depeche Mode, a bit of Keane  and a lot of Queen. A good allround rock/pop album and not over produced too much either (apart from the Queen vox). Going to see them in Manchester in November....should be good.

if you're there on the 10th i might see you there! (standing of course!)

But they are a fantastic band, with a fantastic new album.

Re: Muse - Black holes and revelations!

I caught 'em last night in LA. Pretty good show, I must say. I really enjoyed the first third of the show, maybe the first half of the show, as that set of songs just had more energy than the rest did. it was kind of strange going from several songs of buiding energy to a loungy, downtempo piano medley but I guess you can't please anyone.

3 song encore, the show clocked in at about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
