The Official Dirty YouTube Music Video Thread

YouTube is a treasure trove for rare recordings, live performances and just plain good videos. Please feel free to post any links you want to share and I (or any of the other mods, if they like) will update the original post (kinda like the freeware thread).

YouTube.

Try to post the actual video link, which is found to the left of the video player, and not your mile-long search string.

I'll get the ball rolling with a few of my favourites.

hmm...

ok - while I will give him - it was filled with great ideas, and parts of it were definitely cool... but there - well, was something about it - that left me kinda like 'so what'

sure, there's no way I could ever do that kind of stuff, and also I'm not that huge into turntablism (with a few exceptions, of course)

but like - what was the significance of him flipping around the one deck? I mean, why not just have it be flipped like that in the first place?

it also felt pre-planned as fuck, which, I guess - on one hand is ok, but on the other... it just kinda irked me that everything he played was specifically marked ahead of time

and I absolutely and totally hated the part where he put the two different needles on the individual record. Sure, I'll give him - it's a great idea, but to me - it just came out as a garbled mess

so like - it's one of those deals where you go, man - it's cool, but it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth

Re: The Official YouTube Music Video Thread.

and here's a video I found

It's a cover of the David Bowie / Marc Bolan collaboration "Madman", by the group "The Cuddly Toys" The video was shot on part of the set of Ridley Scott's "Alien", shortly after the film was completed.

oh, and before anyone goes "wait, there's no Bowie / Bolan track called 'madman'" here's the info about it ->

available only as rehearsals with Marc Bolan, for the appearance on his Marc Show (in which it was never performed). Several takes are released in bad quality on Sleeping Next To You (Funny Tunes M 5616). In 1995, the very limited edition Marc Bolan With David Bowie And Other Friends (Bolan Collectors Series MBCS102) CD appeared, with all takes of 'Madman' and 'Sleeping Next To You' in very good sound quality.

anyways - here's that cover version of "madman"

Re: The Official YouTube Music Video Thread.

This falls into the category of Random Silly Crap but it really is a very useful link to have. From a purely life enhancing perspective it is uplifting and reinforcing.

Imagine you have had the shittiest day possible.

Come home - sit down in front of your PC and take a big breath. Focus on the source of your suffering.

It could be your boss who has made you work unpaid overtime again.

It could be your ex-partner behaving like a complete asshole.

It could be that fat bloke who trod on your foot when you were crammed in the smelly London Underground on your way home.

Focus hard. See them in your mind's eye. Breathe deeply. Play the video. Sing along at the top of your voice, so loud that they might even be able to hear you. Feel the anger wash away....

Therapy...

;)

a quite like it when fans or new dierctors post their own videos to songs. Obviously there's a lot of crap about, but some show real promise like this one a mate sent me the link for to Bloc Party's compliments. Not one of their best songs, but i think the director really captures the mood of the song and depsite the production values being on the cheap side its got some nice touches and the timing of the video works really well with the song :)
