Breathed a sigh of relief there because i thought U2 would be in there!
Most people slag U2 off but there still around and sounding better than ever! Just got that off my chest! :)

i feel so conflicted about them.
nearly all of their albums up until and including pop was half okay. everything after blew terribly.

actually, they are the most overrated band on the planet. i mean, rage against the machine? this isn't 1999...

personally i think led zeppelin is one of the most over-rated bands ever. people say they are the greatest rock band ever... hence over-rated.


i agree with over half his choices, although my list would be much different


edit: and i forgot to say, he's a total arse because of RATM, they are one band they very def. shouldn't be on that list for me

yeah it just seems this guy doesn't like RATM, and wanted to say so, and to do this created a list, why not just start a i hate RATM website...~?

along the way he lists some bands that are also, what he considers overrated, but this subject is more subjective than selecting bands you like, bands that you don't or those that you think are overrated can be called so for many reasons... everyone's list would be different

i mean, i don't get the hype surrounding many of these new British bands, all of which are doing the same stuff - the Arctic Monkeys for example - overrated in my opinion, but whats that - just my opinion.... ho hum, at least he's sparked a debate....

...um Passengers? honestly - I think that what they did in the 90's kinda gave them a bit more slack in the 00's (although they had better NEVER do another ATYCLB)

but about the list - most of it kinda makes sense. I was originally pretty shocked about Beck being listed there, then I thought about it and thought - well, Mutations was just ok, I hated Sea Change, Guero was iffy...

and Trent, well - I could picture him being like #10, but not any lower

Apart from Beck, I agree with the list. A lot of those bands have made good music in the past but are now way past their sell by date and I think NiN might be one of them.

this is really hard but there a lot of true thing there. I'm really ok for what he says about James Blunt, Coldplay, Audioslacve and Nickelback.

I really like Tool, but that's true each of their album remains the same, but for me and in this type of case, it's not a problem. As said by one of my professor this year about Thelonius Monk's music; "Being repetitive is not especially a problem, it's all about the way you manage it".

Gotta say I love the White Stripes. Incredible guitar and vocals in my opinion. But what he wrote about them was funny, so who cares? And NIN is definitely on a downward spiral. Pun sort of intended.

Achtung Baby,Zooropa,Pop! Listen to Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car off Zooropa. Ok they may not be bringing anything new but it sounds fresh and timeless.With Vertigo have gone full circle and back to there roots.They sound different from other Rock Groups as they have the Edge ;) :cool:

Passengers really grew on me in the end.Influence of Mr Brian Eno ;)
He has helped the band an awful lot and much of his early Ambient is on a few albums especially The Unforgettable Fire. I dont listen to ATYCLB as much.Beautiful Day sticks out the most on there.

atomic bomb made me hate them so much. it's all sorts of worthless posturing, calling the edge's style "signature" instead of "fucking stale" and continuing bono's whinging style of "singing" that tried to be so fucking epic except that his lyrics are incredibly awful.

i think that u2 in a way is under-rated, because i thikn that the three albumns: achtung, zooroopa and pop are under-rated, caues i think they are their best. i agree that the last 2 are total garbage...

anyhow, they are not deserved of this list...

With Teeth was a truly awful direction to take. I love Nine Inch Nails so much because I've communicated with the music to such a degree - when The Fragile came out I'd never heard a band take such a mature and brave direction like that, it was utterly inspiring. At that point Trent Reznor had the ears of thousands of people, and a fair proportion of them are the kind that really need to be told that they're special and beautiful and that they can do it by themselves - with The Fragile Reznor had set himself up to deliver this message of compassion or inspiration to an audience who needed it and who listened.. instead he's come out with With Teeth [the lyrics are so forgettable I can't remember any to quote]...

The Fragile was fucking brilliant, though. Totally underrated by most. I had to pursuade my friends to keep listening to it, and they all now thank me for that.

Two things about With Teeth. One that really bugs me is it seems that the direction they've gone in is a large part due to the critical reaction to The Fragile, which is totally lame. I'm so annoyed that he caved to that pressure and went from something I really like to something that's fairly bleah.

The other things is that every freaking song on With Teeth has something I like about it, but for the most part those somethings are, like, ten seconds long. That's especially frustrating for me, cuz I can listen to it and find plenty of moments that I like, but they're just not enough to make me want to put on the album. That's practically more annoying than if I simply didn't like it at all, because, of course, I want to really like it after how much I loved The Fragile.

I agree with the list. Except for System of a Down (overrated but his comments are just bs), RATM (their first album is still flat out amazing, everything else is bleh) and Beck (Mellow Gold and Odelay is great, his folksy stuff is good too).

Tool/APC should be on top IMO though.

another problem i have with this guy is how he tried to make up for his drastic shortcomings by citing how long he's been around.

a dumbass listening to music for 30 years is still going to be a dumbass when he decides he needs an outlet after all that time. he doesnt sound any different than a frustrated 17 yr old.
