Always Loved a Film

Do you think it will appear on RR no.3?

Lyrics:" Big sister, little girl, little sister"

So it sounds like it fits on RR 3,
which will maybe have title: "Im big sister,...,and this is my horse"

Which are words from Aquafunk, so Aquafunk should appear on RR 3...

Well those words aren't from Aquafunk, Underworld have used it many more times in their shows, also on Shake It Higher.

But I would definately like to see Always Loved A Film released. It's a nice tune.

Thanks for correction. I thought before that I was from Aquafunk...
And yeah Shake it Higher is also great;)

Re: Always Loved a Film

but what about the original version?

now THAT was a TUNE!!!

they played it for the '03 Electraglide show... I just wish a better recording of it existed:(

It had this slow, pulsing bassline and the percussion was like - half as fast... actually the newer version might (essentially) just be just those same elements sped up, but at the same time... it feels like such a completely different song. Where the new one has this 'hands in the air' vibe, the original was more like... 'hey babe why don't you dance up close to me' kinda deal

although - I will give you, the original wasn't really a complete song. It kind of just trailed off into the synth used on Mo Move

(edit)
and has anyone noticed that not all the 1.5 sec snippets that were featured on 04/11/05 have been released yet on any of the Riverruns? [not that I regularly listen to them, I just happened to come across the files on my HD]

The track's almost 2 years in the making! It should get released at some point. But the complete set of lyrics and the Big girl, princess, horse inclusion makes sense that it will be released sooner than later.

RiverRun3 prediction:

Always Loved a Film (Silver Boots)
You Do Scribble
Shake that Higher
Globe
the HMH/X-Tra track (spider on my skin lyric)
and amazing new track(s) we have yet to hear!!:D

Re: Always Loved a Film

while i would hope that some of those tracks made it onto RR3, im skeptical that they fall under the 'chill' category that Karl has said.

Re: Always Loved a Film

I personally think they're holding on to the more "album-friendly" tunes and polishing them up -- and I think Always Loved a Film is one of these, maybe You Do Scribble is another. The Riverrun project is more experimental in nature. I remember R+K saying in an interview that they liked the raw, unpolished (unfinished, even) sound that's present in the Riverrun releases.

That's just the way it seems to me.

Re: Always Loved a Film

yeah I'm expecting ALAF and Scribble to go on the album, and stuff like aquafunk on the next RR (if it is going to be more techno as Karl said, and not more chilled as all the media keep saying). I'm not sure if these vocals are actually going to be on the final song or if it was just Karl improvising. For sure the "i'm a big sister..." sample has been used freely troughout the liveshows on the recent tour.
anyway, if the rest of the new album is gonna be of the same quality as ALAF and Scribble, I think we're in for a treat! :)

i see your points about ALAF and You Do Scribble being more polished and maybe being destined for an album release. On the other hand, i don't think "aquafunk", "moroccan meatballs" or "Yard beat" to make it to RR3, since these are Darren Price compositions! Maybe some other live-only tracks (Globe, five ft 5, floating world) are U/W trax that we could expect, since the other RR tracks got played out live.

both always loved a film (have only heard the one from about a year ago on a dirty radio show) and you do scribble have to be my favorite underworld tracks since luetin ( i know i know, that isn't too long), but they might be even my favorite since stiti once i hear the final albumn versions...

Re: Always Loved a Film

Maybe I should hear Scribble more but, I very much like the beat, but think that the sounds are just random keyboard hitting. I'll get flamed for this, I predict :p But I'll go listen to it more then.

Consider yourself well and truly flamed, young man.

Random keyboard hitting?!!! Call yourself a musician??!!!!!!!:p

Re: Always Loved a Film

This is probably another minority opinion, but personally I don't think that You Do Scribble should be released. The version from the Exit Festival is, in my mind, perfect, and I have been let down by every other version I have heard of it. I just don't see how they could do any better than what we already have.

Leon, if you can make sounds like that from random keyboard hitting, you have a strong career in music ahead of you!

what a pity that this version doesn't have the awesome lyrics Karl added later... but honestly i think this version sounds only so 'hot' because it went through a BBC compressor and some filters. ;) My favourite is Tokyo, simply because it's on CD and has the best sound quality so far.
I wonder how the sophia and benicassim versions will come out. The first few tracks they released on the archive sound really great.

My guess for RR3: 5 points:p, that HMH opening track:eek: and ALAF. (of course not all of those:o)

Re: Always Loved a Film

i like the new version better except for the lyrics. they don't seem to fit and make me feel uncomfortable for some reason.

this is what i can hear in the lyrics:

becky is a doll..... weekend
fingers in her hair
watching her reflection

these are the ?
that live in the cracks
these are the rails at the edge of the woods

and the grey
fall away

becky is a doll
and i'm a big sister
i'm a little girl
and i'm a big princess

these are the ?
that live in the cracks
and these are the rails at the edge of the woods

and the grey
fall away

(sped up lyrics and jibber-jabber)

stay
program
confession

Re: Always Loved a Film

I hear something like this:
these are the weeds that live in the cracks
these are the rails at the edge of the world

...

and i pray
for rain
I like this part, but the whole "I'm a princess" thing is lost on me, and makes me a little uncomfortable too.

and now picture it being sung by karl in a wedding dress:p

I kinda like the way he sings the lyrics. Although I have the feeling he kinda improvised it, I don't know.

Where are these lyrics?

Re: Always Loved a Film

aren't some of these lyrics recycled from JAL to Tokyo and some of the live spoken bits?

it's stating to feel like the dubno days with titles and lyrics floating back and forth in different songs.

dubman 05-19-2006 01:46 PM

Re: Always Loved a Film

been a lot of blue velveteen floating around since the BF days, that's for sure
