Linky:

Though its says it starts at 10.04pm, which is bizzare. Ever faithfull UK teletext has also mentioned it as well, claming riverrun news will be announed and album details possibly.

How the server won't max out!

Re: NME get behind radio show

NME sez: "the show will be the latest installment of their broadcasts, which have previously been unannounced."

Wrong.

And anyway, maybe there's a reason they're not announced in the music press?;)
i sure hope the radio stream doesn't fracture to pieces...last time around, there were a few too many "in the wire"!

It says that the show will also be getting broadcast by some Dutch mob called VPRO who do TV and radio via their digital and terestrial radio network. Anyone know if that station is on Sky? I mostly just listen to the bhangra shows..

if you have a mac you can re-broadcast fairly easy using nicecast (it's a no-brainer). last one that i was on high speed i remember re-seeding to about 10 friends... now if every dirt did that a lot of the dirty community load could go to other servers

Re: NME get behind radio show

It'll start after the 11:00 news here in holland, so 10:04 is right I guess.
VPRO radio/3voo12(BPM) is one of the licence holders to broadcast here in holland and dos so at the radiostation called 3FM. I think it's only on ASTRA 1G as for satellite feeds, but look into the details of the ones you can recieve if it's on there too.
3FM and VPRO have radio streams too. And they can handle large audiences since they're used during Pinkpop and Lowlands festivals too when many people listen and watch online.

Re: NME get behind radio show / extra tune-in info

Here's the digital satellite info you need: link. Not sure if the cards UK/anywhere outside NL will be good enough tho because although its free to air, its free-to-air conditional: "* Free conditional reception: Service is encrypted but free of charge. Equipment and smart card required for dencoding."

Another info page is the Satmania page which seems to indicate that people all over europe can receive this.

well it's bound to be madness getting on no matter what. that's why it's always good if someone can record the darn thing and distro it to the rest of us who just can't get on.

I wont be able to record it but I will assist in distribution (most likely over at RTSR).

Re: NME get behind radio show / extra tune-in info

hmm... will the vpro broadcast have a higher bitrate than uwlive? That could take the pressure away from the uwlive server if they are going to broadcast in 96 kbit/s.

For recording i will use streamripper-win32-1.61.19 with the following commandline:

streamripper.exe URL -a -A -o never -t -r 5555

That will write to a single mp3 with cue sheet (so no gaps), doesn't overwrite any files in any case and would automatically reconnect (so no heart attacks when the server goes down:)) and set up a relay server on port 5555 so i can listen to it while recording and not use another slot.
(Will i actually use 2 slots when recording and listening without using a relay server?)

ohhh... i'm so excited! :D

Re: NME get behind radio show / extra tune-in info

Jan: thanks for the info with the stream rip. AFAIK, the 3voor12 programmes along with their BPM show are streamed at 160kbps, so youre free to hook up to that. Here's the page. You can listen to some of the shows now.

either myself or a colleague of mine will be recording the VPRO FM broadcast for this. Hopefully all goes well. :)
As long as UW's connection with the VPRO studio holds up, you will be able to stream from their site as well as from dirtyradio, so there should be more than enough capacity overall.

Jan and King of Snake, thanks in advance for your efforts capturing the stream! Let's all hope for the best!
