Dirtyshirt
Can anybody let us know the state of play regarding these please......in fact pretty please?:D

Re: Dirtyshirt
Hold on, let me get a bag of popcorn really quick -- this should be an interesting read. :D
EDIT: Maybe I should take the horse by the reins and do the damn things myself. No harm in appealing for art as long as I'm not actually making them yet, so if anyone wants to send a me a .jpg, .eps or .ai file with suggested artwork they can do so at... producer9k2k5@yahoo.com. If yours is picked you have to be prepared to separate the artwork into composites, meaning each color = black, and on its own page. They have to line up, as well. If I have to put my graphics artist on the separation, it'll reflect in the price. Let's just say that the Dirty gods decide that they have dragged their heels enough and decide that they have too much going on and would hand the thing off to me -- how much money would you be willing to spend for a Dirtyshirt? |

Re: Dirtyshirt
If the proceeds went to some decent cause, be it website upkeep or something more philanthropic. Otherwise, i'd make my own for $3 (cost of high-quality tee from craftstore and one sheet of iron-on transfers). Could be the artist in me, but it's often cheaper and quicker to DIY. I refer you to my homemade shirt here:;)

Re: Dirtyshirt
I know Scott has something in the works but I'm not sure of the timeframe. He's a very busy man right now. In the meantime, there's nothing to stop anyone from doing unofficial t-shirts. I made a test shirt last summer for the Amsterdam UW gig and it worked out about €12. I'm sure there'd be a discount for more. They had a great selection of colours and sizes and brands.

As for the shirts themselves, I know that Scott wants a quality product and that was a hang-up but there's only so many more times that can be jockeyed around before I start taking offense to that. Making custom apparel is what I do. It's how I pay my mortgage, it is my career and I make my money by delivering quality. Personally, I think it's really sad that the boat keeps getting missed, and missed, and missed. It's what I do, I own a shop (OWN!) and I'm a resource waiting to be tapped. All that has to happen is Scott needs to ask what my cost will be (materials, labor and shipping costs), I tell him, we decide a mark-up which determines his draw, and then we determine if he is going to sell them, if I handle selling them for him and if so, on what day of the month would he like to receive his monthly payout. That's all, it's that simple. I would also like to rant about how much resentment I'd have if Scott would elect to go through an organization that is not directly affiliated with Dirty, and how hurt, betrayed and angry I'd feel if he demonstrated no desire to keep Dirty money within the Dirty community... but I won't. ;) I will however say that no one out there is going to care about his product as much as one of his own members would and no one's going to deliver some insanely inexpensive product unless they're coming from China and its an order of 20,000 pieces. But that doesn't mean that if I offer Scott a price of $7.50/shirt and he sells them for $15 that he won't make a moderate amount of cash. EDIT: I could always host the shirts on my store website's e-commerce section, which will be completed in about 2 weeks... http://www.thinkteamworks.com/index.html The website's not complete yet so don't fret about the lack of content, it's coming... :) |

I just made my own and was willing to make them for any Benelux dirts too. The design is the hardest part but if its just text its a piece of cake. |
Re: Dirtyshirt
Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time he yelled at me, or I pissed him off... :D
I just think that with all of the inquiries, people here should know that it can happen with lightning speed. But I've sent the private e-mails, I've outlined plenty about how easy this can all be and I'm not particularly keen on talking about it here either, but at the same time... for all of the inquiries that pop up, I don't feel that it's only my responsibility to make correspondance. If people want an official dirtyshirt they need to reach out and ask. I've done my part. |
Re: Dirtyshirt
I think people would be happy with any dirty shirt.

Well if anyone wants a quality hack I will charge $15 for a professional quality shirt, with *any* art that you want on it. Feel free to go to Staples and buy yourself some transfers but I guarantee you, you will not get your money's worth... not to mention that those crappy transfers at Staples cost something like $10 a pack, and then you have to supply the t-shirt. No sense whatsoever in not tapping this market if no one else will. |

Re: Dirtyshirt
Well, the idea was that I'd use high quality heat press material, as silkscreen is simply too material and labor inefficient for a small run.
Now, if we could decide on some sort of common design and stretch the order out to 12 or more of the same design, I'd do silkscreen in a heartbeat. Well either that or direct print, if you guys insisted on some 16.7 million color monstrosity. All color mixes are available as well, regardless of the method I use. Oh, FYI... that's your huge disadvantage in doing transfers off the shelf. None of them can be used on dark colored shirts... well none except the ones I use... ;) |

I think people have got the message now. If they want a professional quality T-shirt contact Future Proof. If they don't, make their own (as I did, using colour printer iron-on transfer paper, with the help of Lou on the artwork, a little pressie for all the rtsr Dirts that attended HMH in July. And they came out very nicely indeed, thanks). |
Re: Dirtyshirt
Now now, no-one's forcing anyone to buy anything. If FutureProof comes up with a great design and can guarantee a quality shirt (Hanes, Fruit Of The Loom, Jerzees, Gildan etc), I don't see why he shouldnt offer to make them for people. I highly doubt he's gonna make much money out of this, certainly not enough to justify the effort, so thats not the intention. He obviously wants to give people what they want. Its upto him to come up with something that people want.
I'm sure that when Scott comes up with the goods with an official shirt that people will want one of those too so it won't be taking orders away. (Right, people? that had better be true ;)). Besides, I know how easy it was to make my own so rather than get one shipped from over there in the USA, I'll make another here if i want one :) |
Re: Dirtyshirt
Maybe you're right, and sorry if I sound a bit harsh.:o As long as people understand that this is a private transaction between individual parties and not a forum-sponsored thing (unless and until it becomes one, in which case that is another matter altogether).
/end legal rant ;) |
Re: Dirtyshirt
Yes, if you want to enter into a financial transaction on these forums then understand that Dirty has nothing to do with it and if FutureProof runs off with your money and doesnt deliver then there will be no liability from the Dirty forums.
</disclaimer> Now, enough with the hard sell FutureProof ;). I'm willing to sit back and see what comes up. If this also spurs on an official shirt then all the better. Yannick: what do you mean exclusive one for japan? |
Re: Dirtyshirt
Preliminary list of topics that don't get anywhere on the forums:
1. dirty shirts 2. Bootleg Babies part 2 3. Underworld as progressive music ;) |
Re: Dirtyshirt
I don't even know what a hard sell is.
But understand, I feed myself though. If I don't knock on people's doors and make first contact, who knows where I'll end up -- likely not in as good of a place. So if anyone feels bullied or pressured or whatever a hard sell means, I haven't usurped anyone's right to say no. But know that when you stamp your time card at the end of the day that if you don't own the deed, it's not your liability. Cut and drag, it's that simple. Or in other words I'm asking for some understanding into my position, if well wishes are too much to ask for. :) Well, I have a moderator on my side and small interest and as such, I'm going to start an official thread. |
Re: Dirtyshirt
lets not get too shirty bout this one people :D
