The Exit recording
Does anyone have a copy of this that isn't distorted?
|
Re: The Exit recording
you mean the 3 tracks from radio1 and not from the stream i suppose. not me. i have the stream and its not distorted but its low quality. one from digital will surface im sure.
|
Re: The Exit recording
I managed to record from FM in the end, and it sounds fine by my ears. There's one 1/2 second drop just after the "maggot" spoken segue/intro bit echoes away, which is a bummer but it edited out OK. You should have seen me leap across the room when I realized that was happening. I hate having crap gear and being generally feckless.
If anyone can suggest where I can put this once it's cleaned up (ha ha ha, no, not there  ) I'm happy to share, though as Stimpee said someone probably made a better recording of it. |
Re: The Exit recording
i'm mirroring the recording by freezedried , it's the radio1 recording, but i don't know if it's digital broadcast or not...
freezedried's source: link my mirror's here: mirror1 [edit: took the links offline, as there are torrents around & slsk shares ] @votingfloater: i can host your record if you like, drop me a line by pm. |
Re: The Exit recording
The realaudio source is 32kbps stereo 44.1hkz. to make that into a 192kbps mp3 is unnecessary though with mp3 you lose either stereo or khz if you make it less than 96kbps so thats what ive done with my stream recording. Its 28:51 gig and 5:24 interview, 19.8mb and 3.7mb respectively.
1. Interview part 1 2. Interview part 2 3. Pearl's Girl 4. New Track 5. Born Slippy NUXX/Born Slippy NUXX 2003 A digital copy should be forthcoming tomorrow. |
Re: The Exit recording
Well, here's why I ask. There is a ton of saturation in the mp3 that I have - the voices distorting during the interview, the synths sounding like they have overdrive applied to them, et cetera...
If anyone has a copy of the show that is clean (even if it's muddy, quiet, lo-fi, etc...) would those people be so kind as to hook a brother up? :) |
Re: The Exit recording
Yeah, sorry about the slight problems with my copy. It's an FM capture by the way but I was running short of time to get my PC set up exactly right - it was only really meant to be a capture for myself but then people started asking for any recording. I'd be interested in a pristine copy too...
|
Re: The Exit recording
Not that I'm complaining, the music is still loud and clear, I'm just trying to clean this up a bit with little luck so I figured I'd ask and see what goes...

Re: The Exit recording
votingfloater's recording is in the works... just be patient a little longer ;)

Re: The Exit recording
Eeek! The expectation is weighing heavy on my shoulders now. :o ;)

Re: The Exit recording
i've got a 70 minute average quality xvid of this taken from a tv broadcast, i bought it off a street seller on the way out. By the way it's emerson who plays with them here, not price!! From www.exitfest.org;
"Pulse of the “Underworld Moment” There have been few musicians in the last fifteen years, who have been suggestively making music, year after year, as Underworld has. After indescribable fireworks, which made the sky above Petrovaradin Fortress shine for ten minutes, the full crew of Underworld appeared on stage: Hyde, Smith and Emerson. This was a surprise for the literary enchanted audience that caused even bigger disturbance in their already stirred emotions. Then followed, by now already well-known club themes, such as “Rez”, “Everything, Everything”, “Two Months Off”, “Push Upstairs”… Absolute catharsis began when 30,000 people sang as one the lyrics of “Born Slippy”. Finally, Underworld has that unmistakable kind of sensibility when it comes to communication with audience. It is an unusual approach to music; it’s about electronic response to modern sound and a unique stage performance, which was this time also formed by Karl Hyde himself. Local spectators will remember this performance by many things, mostly because of the fact they had a chance to experience that famous “Underworld moment”. Everything else can be the beginning of a grand festival story... Exit has really begun!!!" I'm Irish (i used to be griffin around here) and was at the festival as a student journalist but underworld were my real reason for being there:) I've only got 128Kbs upload so will someone with very very high bandwidth email me and i'll make a torrent and email it back to them and then they can distribute it? email griffin02 AT msndotcom it'd be nice if someone with about 2Mb+ up could help (the files nearly 700mb |

Re: The Exit recording
not having any proof whatsoever, im gonna go ahead and say that is Price and not Emerson up there.
|
Re: The Exit recording
ok, it's Price, not Emerson. and there's a torrent of this seeded at purelivegigs.com already. it's top notch; digital w/ analog interconnect. go check it out for yourself. :)

Re: The Exit recording
I just had a constant 7:30 minutes goose-bumps throughout the whole third song of the exit recording.
They double after chilling down a little, when I realise that for example that great pad will start to evolve, or when the hihat-snaps fade in to announce the breaks, or when its close to get to the breaks sans pad part that must be one of the greatest variation in breaks ever, or when I know that soon that humming voice will follow the evolving strings and the breaks get even better, and they will again grow with that arpeggio-line, having a little climax when it goes to repeated high notes slightly before the breaks kick in after freur-like humming comes back, they also kick up every time that little reverb is applied to the snare-hits. The day before yesterday, I had them by just thinking of the unbelieveable breaks that Rick played. Reminded me of listening to the BootlegBabies recording of Rez/Cowgirl (the one that starts slow and gets faster and faster) in the bus in the morning, being close to tears. Can't be described. Words fail me. Thank you. |
Re: The Exit recording
im so confused. is there a recording of the Exit Festival floating around out there?
|
Re: The Exit recording
Yup, I'll bet and Karl and Rick are ready to murder the world. ...
...even though that recording made me a lock for buying the new disk on the day it drops. :) |
Re: The Exit recording
Hi, I have the Exit recording [flawless, lossless] from dimeadozen.org. Btw I'm VERY interrested in the XViD 70m TV capture, will it be torrented somewhere, catsaregathering?
|
Re: The Exit recording
i should be getting a copy of this soon. patience.
|
Re: The Exit recording
hey sorry about yesterday stimpee. my internet cable is wrecked. i gotta new one today and should be sending that up again later tonight when i get home.
so does anyone know if that is emerson or price? they actually look kinda similar as well to add to the confusion! |
Re: The Exit recording
It really is Darren Price! :)
|
Re: The Exit recording
I reckon the higher probability of it being Price, it was him at the Heineken Music Hall as well.
|
Re: The Exit recording
Just to be sure... it wasn't Carl Cox on there with them on stage?
|
Re: The Exit recording
no... wait... it was Coxy. it's really hard to tell the difference between Cox, Price, and Emerson though. they all look so much alike.
|
Re: The Exit recording
...I thought Oakenfold joined them
or that "firestarter" guy from the Prodigy hahahahaha  |
Re: The Exit recording
"i thought Darren's mom joined Underworld" :p ;)
I think it was an honest mistake that more than a few have made in these early gigs...including some journalists who are supposed to check facts! I'm sure Pricey will fit in nicely and people will begin to recognize him and his contributions outside of the context/shadow of the other Darren. |
Re: The Exit recording
Oi! dont take the piss. catsaregathering has kindly agreed to donate this recording and if the Exit press were confused and led him to believe it was Emerson then give him a break.... At least until I have a copy of the video! ;)
|
Re: The Exit recording
aww, we're just joking.
:P |
Re: The Exit recording

a recording sounds sweet... still nothing comes close to reaching for THE green laser during 'king of snake'... 30000 people know what I'm talking about ;)
|
Re: The Exit recording
emmm hold on a minute, i'm not a confused journalist, that quote i posted was from the official Exit website, and darren emerson has had a long admiration for the festival, playing there before and playing on his own on the last night of this years fest aswell. i guess i do deserve the smart remarks though, how naive of me to think that the organisors of a festival would know who exactly is on stage on the mainstage at the opening gig of the biggest festival in the historyof Exit:rolleyes:
i havent forgotten stimpee, don't worry, i'll sort it out really soon |

Re: The Exit recording
sorry m8 - but it was all in good fun.
and yea ...concert promoters, etc etc even get the info wrong. I remember when I saw them at the Ultra Festival in Miami - they were billed as if this was their first US show in five years (...or was it ever?) - and I was talking to some very confused people when I told them about the awesome show of theirs I had seen in NYC only a few months prior Quote:

Re: The Exit recording
I was at Exit too, great gig but nobody was really sure if it was Price or Emerson.
Karl said in the interview after the gig though that he was glad to have Darren Price as part of the band now, so I guess that clears it up. I just hope they play as good a show here in Dublin as they did in serbia!!!!! |
