backwards speech on live track
On track 6 of Creamfields Festival August-24-02 which is labeled as 'unknown track' (it's the one where it says 'you drink summer's juices') there is some reversed vocals from 0:50-2:17. Pretty cool little speech from what I can make out.
ysi linky Guess I've been listening to too much Boards of Canada recently. |
Re: backwards speech on live track
kinda like the old "All the Staaaaars will know their names......." video on UWlive huh?;););)

Re: backwards speech on live track
Mmm skyscraper, so you reversed this? What tipped you off that there were reversed vocals? it never even occurred to me that UW would do that, since they always use very interesting snippets of speech/different languages to layer the track! It's cool, though i can't make much out. other than "4 am" at the very beginning and "listening to my radio", "Fell asleep". Maybe playing with the EQ can help?

I was listening to old unknown tracks on my computer looking for connections to the new releases. Reversed vocals are pretty recognizable once you get used to hearing them. 'Happy Cycling' by Boards of Canada has a section of reverded vocals and after listening to that, the part on the UW song just stuck out. |
Re: backwards speech on live track
Track 9 (Push Upstairs) from the same show also has some reversed stuff at the beginning. Either that or really bad German. Some of it is covered up by the DJ; I didn't bother reversing it.

aaand the morse code you can hear in Agent Orange is "If anybody can hear this, please help me". |
Re: backwards speech on live track
[quote=stimpee]i dont remember reversed vocals with DM [quote]
Yes they used that in: 1) In Stripped if you reverse the song Dave says "Tonight i Have You" 2) If you reverse the song "Flexible" you can hear Andy say "It Could Probably Work" and Martin says "Back to Back" (Flexible is B side of Shake The Disease and B side of It's Called a Heart on US 12") And I think that in To Have and to Hold it's not used "Evolution" but "Volution". But thats a detail. Some more info: Black Celebration - The beginning is Daniel Miller saying "A Breif Period of Rejoicing" trying to sound like Winston Churchill. That was also originally gonna be the title for 101. A lot of the songs on Contruction Time Again uses samples from Neubauten Maybe this thread is for headset, but we are talking about reverse songs which UW uses too. |

Re: backwards speech on live track
I love them, see them on Monday.
In Stripped if you reverse the song Dave says "Tonight i Have You" Its somewhere in the middle of the song. Pleasure Little Treasure Glitter Mix which is on the 12" of Never Let Me Down Again. I've just listened to it backwards and theres something there at the end but hard to tell what theyre saying. Andy says "It Could Probably Work" and Martin says "Back To Back" |
Re: backwards speech on live track
EDIT: Its Pleasure Little Treasure Glitter Mix which is on the 12" of Never Let Me Down Again, not Flexible, thx Stimpee for corrrection.
Have the spoken words, it could probably work, back to back... |
