Well, starting now, I'm after "Pearls Girl." I have kind of a soft spot for "Stagger" due to the awesome music (those hushed piano lines in the background and the bass line in the outro).

Pearl's Girl is my fave UW track of all time. It is the one that drives me nuts when they play it live. I don't want to see it go out so soon. Stagger it has to be. :(

my Rowla took an early bow. i guess its Juanita as my second fave. ive never liked Stagger. makes my stomache feel uneasy.

How anyone can vote out pearls girl is beyond me - classic UW at its best (also the track that got me into UW).

Wow. I'm suprised anyone thinks its that solid. There's maybe two tracks on there that would give me any trouble. But the rest I really wasn't all THAT impressed with. In fact it hard the first Underworld track that made me ask....."What were they thinking?"

probably, but i like 'a hundred days off'. it's not as good as 'beaucoup fish' and ties with 'dubnobasswithmyheadman' for me, but it's still excellent.
it's in my 'top 5 underrated albums of all time' which looks something like this:
1. Brand X - Moroccan Roll
2. Moby - Animal Rights
3. Underworld - A Hundred Days Off
4. Pearl Jam - Binaural
5. I forgot, but probably should be something like Yes - Going For The One.

I'd have to vote for "Little Speaker." See, I don't mind "Ess Gee" for the same reason I don't mind "Blueski" - it's a pretty, short little interlude. If it went on for eight minutes, then I'd say sure, cut it, but the way it is, it works for me.

I don't believe people dislike Ess Gee so much. It IS a pretty little song and the guitar sounds so rich and pure. Lovely harmonies all the way through. Maybe it's the guitarist in me, but I love that track and think it's a brilliant little piece. So smooth. Hard to dance to, but easy to do other things to.;)

Yeah, i've wondered about that, too...same with Blueski and even Shudder... they're guitar tracks, but electronically manipulated. Maybe their general lack of beats is what bothers people about them? Or that they're fairly ambient. Funny, since UW has recntly given us a bunch of ambient and beatless pieces that have been well received, and people tend to like guitar use in tracks like Twist and Jumbo.

It's less about the guitar and more about its resemblance to twangy country western, the guitar bit that is, which is one of my least favorite forms of music.

And if Little Speaker is the one with the jazzy chord stabs at the beginning that one's got to go to.

Luetin on the other hand is perhaps one of the best tracks UW have ever done.

Suddenly this isn't about STITI soo....to get back on topic....

I'm gunning for Pearl's Girl. I love sections of the other two, but their lenght also means there are sections which ain't so hot. If it was JUST Juanita and not Kiteless or To Dream of Love though Pearl's Girl would get the boot.

I still remember with total clarity when I first heard Juanita. The moment changed my life and was the turning point of when I became hopelessly addicted to electronic music and Underworld. That Orb sample "I've been waiting for music like this all my life" is all I can think of to describe that moment.

Wait, are we still talking about "Ess Gee"? "Ess Gee" is the one that's two minutes long and all soft and sleepy sounding. There's nothing twangy or country about it. You might mean "Trim," which is very vaguely reminiscent of country.

Right you are. I got my track titles confused. "Trim" totally made me hit the skip button when i first got this. "Little Speaker" before it kind of tempted me.

You know, I actually like "Trim." I like the lyrics. They contain a nice, evocative description of a lazy summer day. And I also like the guitar line and that small acoustic solo thing in the middle. It's not the best song ever (I wouldn't want to hear it as a ten-minute epic), but it matches the mood it describes.
