Re: Is this one of you??
Im always very sad that someone came with that. Well its about personal humanity... :(

Re: Is this one of you??
Especially seeing the Blue Mountain gigs were given to us for nought..........someone needs to inform the ebay police.

Re: Is this one of you??
You'd be appalled at the number of times free stuff comes up for sale on ebay, including stuff that has been traded for free through RTSR. One dork in particular was actually offering serious money to members of RTSR to leech from the FTP from which he had been banned - god only knows how much dosh he had been making from illegal sales.
The RTSR SWAT team will be onto it though! :p |
Re: Is this one of you??
You do NOT want to mess with the RTSR SWAT team. They always get their man.

Re: Is this one of you??
People, please report things like these asap (to ebay and/or RTSR/dirty). thank you.
the same guy is selling tiesto sets.m and from the selling history he has sold loads. frankly it should be him paying people to take them off his hands in that case. but then again, the brainless trance-sheep cant get enough of DJ Tiesticles these days. One comment for the Tiesto CD/DVD is: "Rrrr! You Pirate! U R A Risky Seller! OK shipping, product a copy. Not stated. Buyer rondarlin ( 76) Nov-11-05 14:59 4786072759" to which, our pirate responds: "Reply by nuworldsorder: Sorry, sent wrong disc out. replaced. appologies" yeah, right. "wrong disc". EDIT: BTW, the guy at GlobalDJSets4U is still selling underworld live sets despite being reported. Maybe you good people can also report him. |

In the case of the Blue Mountain gig. You have a band like Underworld who put a lot of work into providing the material for that. Rather than keep it to themselves or release it commercially and make some money off their hard work they gave it out for free. And now someone else is making money off THEIR hard work? Because they took the trouble of burning it to a CD? Come on. That's pretty messed up. |

And looking at it from a purely selfish point of view, if morons start making money out of stuff given away for free, maybe the band won't want to and/or won't be permitted to give it for free any more, which would be a sorry state of affairs indeed. |

If you a selling a single poster, you are selling the physical item. But if you were to print a 100 copies of that poster, and sell each of them, you're talking about copyright infringement. Same with the gig. If by chance, you were given a promo version of that gig on CD, you would be allowed to sell that single promo copy. But you can't possibly believe that duplicating that CD several times and selling copies of it is the same, morally or legally. Just because you received the download for free, and it didn't come with a several page long license, doesn't mean that you have been given the right to do what you please with it. In fact, copyright law states that unless you have been given special rights by the copyright holder, you can't do shit with it. End of story. |

In that respect it is no different than Open Office or any other free source softwear, all of which comes with a licence agreement obliging people to share it for FREE if they are going to share it. Naturally, if anyone was dumb enough to burn Open Office to a CD and try and sell it on eBay they would get the same sort of stick that the sellers of this particular "shareware" are getting on here. |

Yes I agree with GoatSucker in the case of that poster.

A journalist takes a story, word of actual events, and presents them to the public in a particular, digestable format. Which requires a certain amount of skill, and a level of work and time invested. Also someone who has journalist report on their copyrighted material benefits from the publicity. And don't even try to pull the argument that selling it on ebay is more publicity for Underworld, because we're not even talking the same leauge here. |

hrm right
Of course These are the sorts of things that happen when you don't get sleep. |
Re: Is this one of you??
machin chouette: the difference is, when we use P2P we dont actively distribute and sell to people from an internet shop. RTSR is non-profit and on the cover of every release it states NOT FOR SALE. When we use soulseek, many of us just download, and all that do upload/share do not do it for a profit.
Yes, you could argue that downloading from soulseek is illegal but I would say gathering these recordings and selling them on ebay is much more illegal and likely to upset the copyright owners a lot more. |
