Get her some sort of car adapter. An IPod is no fun if you can't make your wheels bump with it.

Re: essential ipod accessories

you absolutely have to get her a case for the iPod...

I'd recommend more of a sport case, as those have the most padding and cover f/ moisture the best.

also - iTrip is pretty worth it, although - depending on how big your town is, it might be a bit of a bitch to find an empty enough radio station.

Whats an iTrip btw? new concept to me.

Re: essential ipod accessories

itrip is basicallly uses empty radio frequency to play stuff from your ipod. i don't like it, the old fashion cassette to ipod works great for me. i know most of you guys probably have skins/protective cases for your ipod, but i say let it be free, baby! personally its a utility that needs to be used and not babied. the thing feels so much better without anything on it.

the biggest recommendation i can suggest is upgrading the earphones. $400 + a shitty $10 worth of white ear phones, does that make sense? i got shure e2c and its a world of difference, but i'm ready to upgrade to something better now

its a fm radio transmitter, you plug it in to your iPod and tune in any radio within 10 metred or so to the correct frequency to listen in. basically saves on wires and connections illegal in uk cos of radio licensing laws

Be careful when buying accessories right now... they've changed the format with the new IPODS and most accessories haven't been released for the new video versions as of yet.

Got the iTrip last night as a late (and cheap) Christmas pressy for the missus. Will test it out later today. Thanks for the suggestion. Wouldn't have bothered about it but for $20, it's worth it.

Cheers

Hehe...I saw a Ford Fiesta ad on a billboard a few days ago. You get a free iPod if you buy the new Fiesta, and the billboard said 'New accessory for your iPod'...I thought that was cool :)

Re: essential ipod accessories

Well, if you want to make it play in your car, I'd recommend either getting one of those tape adapters or a direct line to an aux port in the CD player...FM transmitters (at least for me) tend to be pretty lo-fi and you have to move them around quite a bit to get them to work well.

If you want to play it on your home stereo, just get a line in cord. You can get them at Radio Shack, or anywhere really...just looks like a headphone jack with a double plug. Otherwise, there's a really cool docking station you can get...it's small, but it has GREAT sound, and charges while it's in there to boot.

line in will be higher quality than tape, but don't expect cd or even mp3 quality. the ipod just doesn't put out that kind of resolution.
