Wow, surprised at how many votes Tongue has, but I suppose it's a tough decision to make. I voted Surfboy, it just doesn't seem to fit as well as the other tracks on the album to me.

as i said, this type of knock out poll might be very intersting, although i feel it may mirror my poll....with the most popular track on Dubno (and the rest when they come up) being the highest ranked track overall...people know what they like and always will...

actually what seems to be the weird thing on the genesis forums is that the track that wins the survivor is usually unexpected, like a track that nobody thinks is GREAT will win, because every song that has an extreme like that, somebody doesn't like it, so the survivor actually turns out to be the least hated track, which turns out pretty interesting.
i tried this on the moby boards, but they're just too far gone. it might've worked 2 or 3 years ago, but nobody gives a rat's ass enough anymore to participate. it's all trolls, pricks, and perverts now. only about 1% actually care about his opinions or his music.

This really is a tough one. I can easily pick my least favorites on the other UW albums, but I never really thought about that with Dubno before. I guess it's just testement to the fact that in the history of electronic/dance music, this album truely stands on it's own and is an extraordinary piece of work!

I've never been able to get into that track... ever. Only time I've ever liked any bit of it was when the intro was used for an improv during the Peel live performance

M.E. (the track, not the disease). It's OK, but it doesn't sound like it belongs with the rest of Dubno.

Though it does remind me of when Radio1 used to use it as a bed for reading the news over years ago.

M.E. doesn't do it for me but it was a difficult decision. I actually went back and listened to Tongue again and thought, "oh no, I love that". So M.E. wins. Or loses. Or something.

cmon, cowgirl is played at almost every gig that they play its been released as a single twice and is the 2nd most played Underworld song on last.fm. Overplayed. Time to give props to some other cool tunes like River of Bass.

Oh, and I quite like surfboy. not the best but I like it. its a great name for a song anyway :)

i do really love surfboy. i don't understand why it should rock as hard as it does. and i think that's why i love it.

"river of bass" is just trash shite. i never even bother with the 2nd side of the 2nd disk. ever. m.e.'s shite too.

imo, I think Surfboy is an interesting piece of music. I liken it to Little Speaker on AHDO in that no vocals are present and it's the "out there" song on the album, but you can still dance to it. That's why I like it (and Little Speaker - The Warfield, San Francisco 2002, Little Speaker live, fucken mindblowing)! I especially like the samples on top (i.e. "Talk to my machine" and the syncopated dog barks towards the end).

They played the beat of surfboy (if my memory serves me right, it was only the cascading, heavily delayed toms) in L.A. in 1999. Lets put it this way, I was wearing a pretty "heavy" pair of "rollerskates", and well...oh my god!!!;)

Right, Electraglide '03 and the Peel session was a few days after that. But that's basically it...just little snippets of the track. It's never been featured, i don't think.

no, but there is the japanese version - with rez and why why why on a bonus 3" cd, which could have upset the odds...

(and i've not checked my white label test pressing for extra tracks...i could try that ;) )

of the 8 or so versions i have i think they are all basically the same... :p
