its quite possible that UW's Management sent out this promos to Pete Tong, with an accompanting 'sticker' or something and as such he assumed it was from a label, rather than the management name...this often happens with promo's being distributed by various sources, and sometimes unlabelled promos get 'written down' as being on the promotors 'label'...

but currently Sunday Club is the management of UW, as you pointed out, and until someone official says so, i think these releases will be on UW's own UWR label, whatever that may officially be called...

UWR-0500004-1 is the number for 'Pizza for Eggs'.

The 1 must mean it's one 'disc' as opposed to the 3 in the Electraglide live cat. number.

If they're counting the Electraglide discs as a release, then could numbers 1 & 2 possibly be the Sophia and Benicassim gigs that they're dribbling to us, slowly but surely.
Infers that they also know what release 5 & 6 are gonna be ahead of time, i.e. they're almost ready and waiting ...

whoa, there.

if, and IF these are catalogue numbers that run to 6, it doesnt make any sense to lump the live gigs (which they've released online before) into the riverrun project. electraglide, maybe, since it's an exclusive and i can imagine some live element playing into it.

but as far as the two gigs for download goes, this is just picking up where fuji left off.

but guess what, we dont really know anything.

well what uysually happens with loads of releases on record catalogues is that the label sets out to release stuff from say 001 to 010...in the first instance.

it then assigns numbers to specific releases, perhaps well in advance of them being actually ready...or even leaves a specific number out because its for a special release....

Underwater records are a good case in point for this:

Emerson the owner of the label sidelined release H2O 050 for his own track, which didn't come out until after later releases such as 052, 054 & 057

and they are currently up to release H2O 073 in terms of numbers but there have not been 064 or 065 released yet...

its simple cataloging which Tony Wilson at Factory records was a genius at, and it may be something similar with Underworld (and their new? label) or may in fact be nothing...

i think you kinda need three releases for it to statistically be a trend...lets wait 'n' see :)

just like anything else, I think it's just cataloging, keeping track of things somehow. Also, when you buy the EP's you'll notice that it says that they are tagged with your info, so it could be user info, stuff like that.

thats how i see it, although i think that the Japan ITunes release of JAL would take one of the '???' numbers...

and i also think for ease of cataloging all the numbers will revert to:

'UWR-0600010-4' or whatever, rather than just 'UWR010'

also i wonder what the '-4' stands for on Vanilla Monkey 12", as i assumed the '-3' on Tokyo was for three discs, and the '-1' on the other release meant just one download, unless '-4' means 12"


still at least we have some kind of system in place :)

Yeah, I suspect so too. I looked everywhere though, and couldn't find a catalog number hidden anywhere. Also, I think the "JAL to Tokyo single" on iTunes and "JAL to Tokyo EP" on iTunes are actually 2 distinct releases. Note the different release dates for the two. So, they could conceivably be 001 and 002, or 005 and 006 (most likely 5 and 6, based on release dates).

Ooh, I also just remembered that in the ID3 tags, LBT and PFE are tracks 1 and 2, and IBS and TMM are tracks 5 and 6. So tracks 3 and 4 could be the missing 001 and 002.

Yeah, I would imagine so. I just used what they had listed on the HMV site, for lack of being able to read the text on the images, aside from Vanilla Monkey. I'm sure they'll have proper numbers once we can actually read them.

Maybe. They're probably going to have to throw out all the packaging they printed up though, cause the dates are all wrong. I wonder if they'll recycle the catalog numbers, or just skip on to the next ones.

I made an inquiry about the Southampton show, but didn't get a reponse. I suspect that something went wrong with the recording that night (first show, and all), and so they weren't able to release that one.

Those are the hardest ones to track, cause they're rarely included or referenced anywhere on the downloads, so I can only list those when I come across a reference.

As for those trailing numbers, they followed that pattern initially, but they've been inconsistent since then in their usage.

Why is there a "cancelled" on the Ring Road Cd?

The pias promo cd for Ring Road as a reference to that Code number.

There was originally planned to be a retail CD release of the single with that catalog number:

But then it was shelved. Most of the OwB promos that came out did not have catalog numbers (unlike the Barking promos). However, I am aware of this PIAS promo you're talking about, but have not actually seen one. This is the one with actual cover art for the promo, right? If you have any photos of it and/or can add information about it to Discogs (I think it might be this one?), it would be much appreciated.

so, both of these have the same catalog number.

checked discogs also which had the same,
i think the tokyo show had another number to distinguish it.

They made a mistake and basically assigned the same catalog number twice.

The Oblivion Ball one does have a Traffic catalog number too though, since it was officially released on that label.

The catalogue number for Tokyo on Target is TRCI3-4.

I'm very pleased these live sets were released ; it was the time when the band had the broadest collection of material and were still in their 'improv' years, albeit not as wildly as the 1994-1999 period.
