So... what do we reckon IIFU will be? A home for recent collaborations and remixes, or something more participatory?

I'm wondering if we'll be getting a drop/new thing every Friday up to release date, and suspect IIFU starting may be one of the Fridays soon if so. Guess we'll see if the pattern holds this Friday...

Someone guessed that it’d be a home for Fen Violet-type collabs that might coalesce into wider releases, which I agree with and think it’s a fine way to keep exploring Barking-type possibilities without making an album of it.

Yeah, that's essentially what I've been thinking as well, and hopefully we'll get some news about it starting up soon as part of the ramp up to the album release (although if there are enough eventually, I'll probably make my own album mix of them). :)

Stems of the album to submit remixes? I quite like the covers idea. It could easily be a mix of professional collabs and fan submissions.

The teaser shorts appear every second day and tomorrow, Friday, it's Lewis in Pomona, which there appears to be an 'IIFU mix' of, hence the enamel keyring. Fingers crossed that iifu will be launched tomorrow

Tonight, Live From Earth Klub is bringing a small festival line-up of bands and DJs from different generations and musical parallel universes. The New York band Fcukers, led by the charismatic Shanny Wise and supported by DJ/producer Jackson Walker Lewis, has quickly made a name for itself in New York nightlife. Their music combines influences from 90s/00s house, trip-hop, big beat and indie rock, inspired by acts such as Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers and Todd Terry. In September, their sensational six-track EP BAGGY$$ was released on Ninja Tune sublabel Technicolour, and they're now playing at Panorama Bar alongside DJs such as Kul?r founder Courtesy and Canadian electroclash pioneer Tiga. At Berghain, alongside Live From Earth acts such as Gigola, MCR-T and Theo B3K of Brutalismus 3000, the lineup includes none other than British rave cult band Underworld. For the very first time, they will perform together with B3K. Thirty years after their fantastic breakthrough album Dubnobasswithmyheadman, Karl Hyde and Rick Smith have just released their eleventh studio album, Strawberry Hotel, which is musically the best thing they've done in a long time. Even after more than three decades, their sound of amorphous, hypnotic techno, Dadaist lyrics and endorphin-laden anthems is uniquely captivating.

How has nobody posted any follow-up to the recent Instagram/YouTube IIFU Hotel short? I'm just coming to it today after a busy week, but the info in the video would normally have caused rampant interest and speculation.

I get there's no announcement or actual info about IIFU yet, but the folder list shown of contents assumed to be on Rick's Mac is wild - tons of IIFU folders (merch, live, collabs, community, stems), not to mention the Reissues and 30 years of Born Slippy ones. Looks like big things to come soon...

So... feels like whatever momentum the new album release had (and by extension IIFU) is well and truly gone at this point. Seemed like the YouTube short with the screenshot and print campaign around the twitter message source was ramping something up. Maybe enough people didn't sign up to the site.

I hope fan response to the new album didn't sour interest in it, as the idea did sound mainly like a fan-focused thing. May just be busy or still doing their odd release timing, but feels a bit concerning months later (especially also after the remastered AHDO stream, then no further news but shows). Probably just me and only irks me since I work in marketing. :)

I anticipate it will still happen. It seems to e something a lot of effort was put into - it just isn't happening as quickly as some fans want it to.
There's lots going on it seems - US tour (with 2 sets again), some festival dates being announced, the hundred days off remaster, the potential for additional uk/european dates in summer (we can hope!)

I am still really loving strawberry hotel. For me, it's a really complete album. I am still not shuffling, and enjoying every track.

Bands experience delays all the time. Another band I love were due to release a boxset in january, and 6 days prior to release it gets delayed until May. These things happen.

I was surprised to see the album only got to number 43 in the UK charts, that's one of their lowest, only beaten by OWB (by a couple of places), and Drift which wasn't really done as a proper album anyway. Wasn't expecting it to be a smash hit, but given that Barbara reached the top 10 it seems really low. That can't be much more than a couple of thousand sales in the UK.



I'm still enjoying it a lot. I had a revisit of the three past deluxe editions recently and hmm, yeah, those albums are definitely deeper and more exciting than this, I sometimes forget how brilliant the '90s stuff is I think, and OWB will always be my personal favourite, but this not being up there with their best isn't exactly a major insult, it's still a superb record start to finish.

charts operate in such a different way nowadays. there is so much focus on the week of release figures (hence why bands are doing so many limited editions, zoetrope vinyls, different colour releases and so on).

longetivity is key, and perhaps IIFU can develop some momentum?

drift seems to have re-invigorated the creative tendencies of UW. the IIFU trailer suggested a lot of unreleased stuff.

If it doesn't happen, when we buy the super deluxe boxset of strawberry hotel, there's a lot of content for it!

Haven't seen much mention yet here or on Reddit of the new Nuxx Thirty shorts on YouTube and "sign up" requests with them. I'm sure Instagram is getting stuff as well, but I'm not on there.

Assume a drop is finally coming soon and the lettering is probably a preview of the design style for it. Starting to feel more like a Cure fan at this point (which I also am) with the jaded sense of I'll get excited for it when it's actually ordered, but until then it's not real and seriously in doubt.

Do still hope IIFU is happening soon after Nuxx since the page is still there, but so hard to tell...

Same font/design as 1992-2002 Anthology and NUXX 2003.

There was a tease of Nuxx 30 in the announcement video for Strawberry Hotel just over a year ago, when you could see a Nuxx 30 folder on Rick's computer, so they've been planning it for a while. I thought it would happen on the actual 30th anniversary (January 2025), but maybe we're just going for same calendar year, or closer to the Trainspotting (1996) anniversary?
