Don't get too excited - it was described thus on Facebook:

"When he was invited to sit in for Gilles Peterson this Saturday, Karl contacted fellow musicians, inviting them to send him new & unreleased material."

So the new & unreleased material won't necessarily be from Underworld or Karl. :(

For those that missed it, Mr. Hyde talked about how Twenty Three Blue is his favorite track from the recent album. Rick called to tell him it didn't make the final tracklist, but Karl was happy that it would be (albeit limited) released on the Japanese version .

Good to learn! I also love me some Twenty Three Blue. I feel like it would have fit just fine either before or after Low Burn. Can the US get A proper legal release, please?

Rick talking about T2 at the 2:23:50 mark:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08b7vyd

Not too substantive, but always nice to hear from him.

Doesn't the unlisted, unsigned track "I remember" by the (ungoogleable) Hood & Wires at 1:55:23 seem... familiar?

What a coincidence!

Oh, and it's not in the track listing here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08b2dm2#play

hood & wires: https://karlhyde.underworldlive.com/...15th-december/

So, do you think this is an UW track? It's obviously Karl singing, but the rest of it? Could it be one of his collaborations or something for Fatherland?

There was a photo on the instagram of two others in the UW studio. A commenter said the two were R and Ks kids. Could this be them?

Good catch! Here's how Karl announces the track at the end of it: "That’s a brand new act called Hood & Wires, unsigned, and that’s a track that came in last week, and I had to completely rejig the show just to drop that in. It’s a track called “I remember”.

Definitely something Karl's had something to do with... good catch!

Karl doesn't have any sons. Rick's son is not named Pete or Ben.

That same commentor said Ben is the "second toughest", which would make him Rick's nephew. Wikipedia says his nephew was Simon Prosser though.

it somehow make me think of Die Antwoord, :p that would be a interesting collab.

It doesn't sound particularly Underworld-ish but then I've been fooled before. Maybe a collaboration with these Pete and Ben guys? Like they've been collaborating with High Contrast or Mark Knight and D Ramirez on Downpipe? It somehow made me think of the Underworld remix of The Shadow.

Re: 21/1/17 Karl in for Giles Peterson on BBC6

btw does anyone have a download/rip of this show?

Re: 21/1/17 Karl in for Giles Peterson on BBC6

Karl mentions a "Ben Nelson" and that he has been in the studio with him a lot recently. It's around the 01:27 mark after the "NDread - FORSAKEN" track. So I guess this is the Ben from the picture, and might also be (from the sound of that NDread track) the collaborator behind the "hood and wires" track. Still not sure who Pete is though.

Thanks for registering and pointing this out to the people who listened to the show and couldnt work out it was Karl on vocals with the pitch lowered...

What'd you do to it?
There's a download link to the full unaltered broadcast on reddit.

I don't understand why Twenty Three Blue was dropped from the album. Not only was it Karls favorite song, but BBWFASF was short as it was AND it fits within the flow of album.
The annoying part is that I do all my listening on Spotify and it's of course not on there.

Re: 21/1/17 Karl in for Giles Peterson on BBC6

it was probably left off so that they had an extra track for the Japanese release.

I sped up the song by 10 percent to bring Karl's voice closer to its normal pitch.
Then I slowed it down again to the original speed without changing the pitch....
:D

Pretty sure High Contrast said there was lots more material that was cut.

Yep it's just stupid if you ask me. I'm sure they could have found another track as a bonus track for Japan without having to leave off one of the bandmembers' favourite track on an already short album. And even if they really felt it didn't work in the flow of the album, they could have at least released it as a bonus track either digitally or on a special edition outside of Japan for a change.

then im out of ideas. Karl's favorite track gets bumped for a 7 track album? Doesn't add up.

Thematic reason? I think it fits perfectly after Cuatro and before Motorhome, which is where I have it stashed on my local album.
