Oblivion With Bells Tour mixes

Hi everyone, as a treat for those who can't wait until Friday for the remaster of STITI I've finally finished my mixes of the "Best of" the Oblivion With Bells Tour CDs. It's taken me nearly a year as I did them initially with a couple of the CDs that I own but a lot of poor quality copies I acquired over the years off youtube etc and then around easter time Thorminator gave me wav copies of his CDs (massive thanks to him!) that I didn't have so I re-did them all!

My idea was that I don't like listening to all of each concert, as some have great versions of some tracks and not so good ones of other tracks, so rather than shuffle through all the concerts for the songs I like I would put them together in 1 place. Anyway I've condensed them down to 4 mixes that are all continuous mixes, each just over 80 mins long (I couldn't get them under 80mins for a cd unfortunately) that between them have 1 version of every song the guys played on the tour except Holding The Moth, Strumpet and Lenny Penne as they were mixed in to other tracks I'd already used elsewhere. I then did my "Best of" mix which is 2hr20min which has a couple of different versions of some of the songs that didn't work on the other mixes (and some of them are better versions!)
They are arranged so the first 3 parts are "London" gigs with opening London poems and the 4th is "Belgium" with the poem before the final encore and the "best of mix" had a poem over the start of Beautiful Burnout from London.

It's not perfect as it is just one concert faded into another and I've not used a generic crowd sound like Bootleg babies seems to? but I've worked hard to try and get the mixes to be as smooth as possible. I did it using just fade in/out and amplify on Audacity on windows with no other fancy mixing techniques. I'm really pleased with the mixes and I hope everyone enjoys them too!

I have mp3 versions and Flac versions. As they are so big the only free storage I could fit them on that I understand how to use is google drive so I've attached links to the folders for both the Flacs and mp3s below. If the links don't work there is also a link to my dropbox which only has the mp3s on as the flacs are over 1GB each so would not fit on there!
If someone can put the files on the tracker please feel free or I can give the Flac files to someone to load them up (Sorry but I'm not great with computers and can not really work out how to get them on the tracker myself!)

See later post for a dropbox link that should work.

Sorry the earlier links didn't work so I've removed them and I've tried another link to my Dropbox:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xddg4ytnv...pihkgXIGa?dl=0

If it doesn't work does anyone have any other ideas?
Paul

P. S. I've just tested this new link and it works for me.

Thanks for this, BG... will have to put these on to an mp3 CD to listen to in my car...

Re: Oblivion With Bells Tour mixes

I've added another version of the 'best of' mix with Parc and Rez/Cowgirl from Brixton 01/11/08 at the start instead of Confusion The Waitress and Rez/Cowgirl so that there isn't that horrible loud glitch around 4mins into Rez! The link is still the Dropbox one above but the new version is track 6.

Re: Oblivion With Bells Tour mixes

I've added another new mix titled "The Alternative Best Of Oblivion With Bells Tour" with lots of different versions that I like. I've updated the tracklist so you can see what's on it. It's the same Dropbox link as above.
I might try and put together 1 more mix with the more mellow tracks/tracks with Karl playing guitar then I think I'll be done!

Just saw this. Will check it out. Thanks mate.

Re: Oblivion With Bells Tour mixes

I've updated (and I think I've improved) a couple of the mixes I did last year. The main changes are parts 1 & 3 and I've changed the end of Jumbo on part 5 as I was never happy with it! I've also added the "mellow" mix I was planning to do. I've also split all the mixes into individual tracks. If you liked the original mixes I hope you'll like the improvements I've made. The new link is: https://drive.google.com/folderview?...20xLWN4ZlBSODg

Please let me know what you think, I'd be grateful for any feedback!

Very cool! In the mellow mix folder there seem to be two sets of files of the same sizes?

Thanks for pointing that out, I've removed the duplicates.

You absolute bastard. I am literally in the process of splitting your original mixes into individual tracks and burning them onto CDs. As I type this. The first 3 mixes (as in, two of the three you just made changes to!!!) were just burned and I just finished splitting the fourth.

 I am not moving with brilliant timing.

In all seriousness though, thank you for putting these together though. Have really enjoyed listening to them and having them compiled instead of spread across 12 odd shows. No complaints with the mixing either, even with the older versions.

Re: Oblivion With Bells Tour mixes

Oh no! Sorry WhiteNoise I meant to do it a lot sooner but I didn't want to be stuck inside on my computer over summer but once it started getting darker in the evening I got back on with finishing it!
I'm glad you enjoyed the mixes!

Re: Oblivion With Bells Tour mixes

Question on these; I recall a drastically different Jumbo being played during at least one of these shows. Is that included in any of these mixes?
Thanks again for all this great work!

Re: Oblivion With Bells Tour mixes

I think it will be the version they played at Amsterdam which is mixed with Nicodemus for the first half and is quite chilled out compared to the usual renditions of it and most of the other versions were similar to the studio version (the Rotterdam version was quieter than most but didn't have the Nicodemus drum beat). The Amsterdam version is the only version of Jumbo I've used on these mixes as it's pretty much the only version of Jumbo I like! I would love a studio version of Nicodemus/Jumbo to be on the Beaucoup Fish remaster. They have also played that version on a couple of the Lemonworld broadcasts but the Amsterdam live version is by far the best for me.
On my part 4 Jumbo is almost exactly as on the Amsterdam recording i.e. with Spikee coming in abruptly at the end although I had to miss off the first few "I've got brilliant timing"s to get the crowd noises to mix properly. On my parts 5,7 and 8 I've also added the last minute or so from the Rotterdam version so the following mix into Born Slippy is not messed with. (The Rotterdam Born Slippy is my favourite version of it ever; the improv at the beginning and the "You took away my empty cup" vocal sample are just awesome and enhance it!)
I hope that helps and you enjoy it!

I've included the full tracklist in the Google drive folder and for darktrain I've also added the Amsterdam version of Jumbo and Spikee/KOS.

Osaka 2005 has a great Jumbo version. Its on the tracker.

Re: Oblivion With Bells Tour mixes

I don't know if anyone noticed already but I added a 9th mix which is basically an extended and re-ordered version of the Part 5 best of mix to include Twist and Juanita and ends with the Manchester version of Moaner. Previously I tried to avoid having it sound obvious that different gigs were mixed together but these are my absolute favourite tracks across the Live Here Now cds. I think that is me finished now!
The link to the folder with everything in is: https://drive.google.com/folderview?...20xLWN4ZlBSODg
Enjoy!

Just revisiting this thread - great work on the these mixes. Any chance of lossless versions of these for the rtsr tracker?

If I could work out how to put them on the tracker I would!
I've still got all the full mixes saved as audacity files so I can re-do them as flac files but I edited the individual tracks from the 320kbps mp3 versions as my computer doesn't have a lot of hard drive space or memory left so it was really slow editing these mixes (and crashed several times in the middle of saving full 2 hr mixes which got corrupted so I had to start again a couple of times!). I wish I'd done them all on the flacs originally but my intention was to make them full 'uncut' gigs but I got tired of trying to find the start of some tracks!
I will try and save the full mixes as flacs and put them on my Google drive. I'll put a new link on this thread when it's done. If people want it on the tracker then if someone can help me and explain how to do it or if someone wants to put the files in my Google drive on the tracker that's fine with me!

Billy Goat 11-06-2017 10:11 AM

Re: Oblivion With Bells Tour mixes

I've found that I have individual audacity files for the tracks on Parts 4-9 so I will re-do all these as flacs and put them on my Google drive with a new link in the next couple of days. I've got Parts 1-3 as flacs already so I'll put the full mixes up as well and cut them into separate tracks as well but it might take me a bit longer!

Mike 11-07-2017 01:11 PM

Re: Oblivion With Bells Tour mixes

Im sure someone can volunteer to put them on the tracker, having them in lossless would be good. I also appreciate the effort with splitting the tracks.

Billy Goat 11-10-2017 05:07 PM

Re: Oblivion With Bells Tour mixes

OK, so I've done flac versions of all my mixes. I saved them as the best quality flac that audacity let me (8) and 24bit. They should be almost identical but I had to re-cut the tracks for the first 3 mixes so they might be very slightly different to the mp3 versions.
I didn't bother re-doing Mix 8 as I just put the alternative first tracks in the folder for part 5.
I renamed Part 9 (Extended Best Of) as Part 8 instead.

This is the new link:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?...kJkNjRJVjExYU0

If anyone can help me to put the files on the tracker that would be great!
Enjoy!

BG - thanks so much for making these mixes. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed them at work these last several days, and I think the technical mixing is flawless. These really do sound like the most unbelievably Underworld shows. Well done.

Thank you for the kind comments! ☺️ I really enjoyed making them and it would be my absolute dream to see them play live my Mix 8: The Best Of as a proper concert! The versions of Jumbo, Born Slippy and D's Ablt/King Of Snake on that mix are my favourite ever versions of these tracks!

Are these still avalible somewhere? I have an earlier mp3 version of this and love the mixes, but looked up this thread again now as I tried to figure out the differences between the different mixes. Would love the latest copy in mp3 or flac, but the link is dead and couldn't find it on the tracker. :)

Sorry I've not checked on here for a few days!
This is the link to my Google drive folder which has all the mixes I did: https://drive.google.com/folderview?...20xLWN4ZlBSODg
I do have flacs saved somewhere but I'd have to upload them to my Google drive.
Any problems let me know!

I'd be happy for someone to put them on the tracker if that would be easier for people but I don't understand torrents so I've never worked out how to do it myself!

Unfortunately I've had to remove quite a few of the files from my Google Drive folder as I needed to free up some space on it. I've left on the full mix files and the 'Best Of' mixes with the individual track files.
If anyone wants the individual files of the ones I've removed please message me and I'll re-upload those files for a short time for you to grab them.
If anyone wants to upload them to the RTSR tracker I'm happy to give you the files to do that as I can't work out how to do it myself!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
