Dubno tour could be anything.
Thinking about it, I really doubt that they'll be a standard set throughout the gigs as the Dubno era has a wealth material from the album, singles and EP's. What's to say some nights won't get something like Dark & Long mixed into Dark Train? London will be a interesting thing to see setlist wise but I reckon itll evolve as it gets on. Id quite like Spoonman into Spoondeep!
Then if we get an encore, who's to say we wont get a selection of other tracks from various eras? And it could be the first time that NUXX gets dropped... |
Re: Dubno tour could be anything.
I'm hoping the encores are songs like 8 Ball that UW have said they've wanted to play live but never could in a traditional show. At a seated venue, chiller tracks like that, Best Magmu Ever, Deep Arch, Skym... those could have a shot at live performance.

They did play Skym at the show I saw for the Beaucoup Fish tour (Las Vegas stop). It was really nice to hear it and completely unexpected. -Jason |
Re: Dubno tour could be anything.
They busted out Best Mamgu Ever during the 2007/2008 Europe shows too.
They had a "standard" setlist for the Barking tour. I don't see why they wouldn't for these dubnobass shows. Of course, I do hope I am wrong. |

Re: Dubno tour could be anything.
The quietus interview led me to believe that it'd be dub no straight through, or at least something fairly standardized as they mentioned NOT doing a bunch of improv. That could also just be the royal festival hall gig though...

Re: Dubno tour could be anything.
Yeah, based on the Quietus interview, it sounds like they're just going to try to reproduce the album from start to finish as faithfully as possible. Now, as to what they play once they finish playing the album, that's more up for grabs. I wouldn't be surprised to see something static for that across the shows either though.

From reading the Quietus interview, I get why they want to perform 'Dubno' as faithfully as possible. They've never performed it in order before and the songs always took a life of their own in a live setting from the beginning. I can see that being a challenge for them. The whole interview is a great read. I didn't start listening to the band until 1997 or 98, so these new pieces of information are very interesting to read. Jason |

Re: Dubno tour could be anything.
You can't do justice to the Dubno era without Rez, surely?

Re: Dubno tour could be anything.
Dark Train, or maybe even Thing in a Book? That's probably a longshot though. I'd be surprised if they did KoS, Moaner, or Nuxx at these gigs, to be honest. Spikee is a candidate if they wanna get a slammer in there, though, but I don't know that it'll fit the vibe.

Re: Dubno tour could be anything.
Some of the Nuxx lyrics are on the dubno sleeve, so I'd make a strong case for that being contemporary enough, and if it's not there UW would be in the rather odd position of playing a retrospective gig with none of their 5 top 20 UK hits in it (bonus points to anyone who can get all 5 right without googling).
Darktrain, Rez and Nuxx would be the prefect encore for me, although come to think of it if they were ever going to do Caliban's Dream live, bringing on a choir for an encore at the Royal Festival Hall would be the place to do it! |
