Dark Train (misheard) lyrics

"Ride the train"

It's so simple. But maybe the first time you heard the song, you weren't quite sure what he was saying. I'll admit, I heard "burning train" for a while. But I'm not quite sure how people could hear this:

"Body triangle"?

So, what did you hear for the lyrics? Or maybe you're not sure even now that it's "ride the train"?

Here are some other lyric possibilities that I've seen or heard from people:

"by dark train"
"like a train"
"are you trying, dark train"
"I'm a train"
"Light travel"
"love triangle"
"I can try now"
"My vagina"
"dark train"
"tri-angle"
"triad, triangle"

Re: Dark Train (misheard) lyrics

I heard "like a train" for the longest. Friend of a friend misheard "I'm invisible" from cowgirl as "I'm a desert boy," too. At an old kitchen job a friend would say "caprese" over the repeated "crazy" of pearl's girl, but that was intentional as he was being a dick.

This has absolutely made my day. :D

I used to hear "Like a train" and "On a train".

The other one to mention is "Talks To God" which myself and many others always heard as "Watched you cry, watched you fly, watched you die".

Re: Dark Train (misheard) lyrics

when i was a kid until some years ago, i was sure the lyrics where "rave and triangle". then "ride a triangle"

haha.

then i finally saw karl sing the thing and, from what i understand from the recording, it's "ride the train, girl". is it?

then it must be "back on triangle" or "playing triangle"

how the hell can there be so many interpretations of 3 (or 4) words?

I heard "like a train" for quite a while. I once played the beginning of Pearls Girl to a friend and he turned to me, utterly bewildered, "All I hear is wuzy, wuzy, wuzy..."

Going off on a slight tangent, perhaps the holy grail of u/w lyrics is what is Karl singing during the middle section of "Crocodile"

I get lyrics wrong all the time... but I can honestly say, since I first heard, it was "Ride the Train" for me. The thing about Karl's lyrics though, is even if you do mishear them or not, you're still unlikely to figure out what he's talking about anyway. ..."velvet tongue... and designer voodoo..." huh? :D

I first heard Underworld Live at Tramways, Glasgow on Radio 1in 1994 and had never heard of them and didn't know any of the track names so I had no idea what Karl was singing and thought 'ride the train' was 'Mad man in Troy'! I also thought the Dark Train lyrics were 'Don't, don't, don't, don't don't... learn to speak!
In Pearl's Girl I always thought it was 'Old man Einstein on top of his housewife'. Crazycrazycrazy!
Best wrong lyric I've heard was my Dad who thought The Prodigy Everybody in the place was Careers in the police!

I can't be the only one who thought it was 'train driver' and 'about the driver', surely??

Yeah, I thought this for years. Also 'pieces of the bosom are waiting'.

And in NUXX, 'I just come out of the shit'.

Most of these were while in my early teens, to be fair.

Ever since we saw UW a few years ago - my wife is CONVINCED in "Two Months Off" - the vocals are "you've been lied to"

and not "you bring light in"

This was answered elsewhere but..

"Needs a couple more verses"

brilliant.
