Eventually they stopped the film and wouldn't start again until everyone was seated. Definitely one of my most memorable film-going experiences. The film itself is well worth a watch if you're a Chems fan. It captures their 2010 shows perfectly. |
Re: The Chemical Brothers Movie - Dont Think
out on dvd / blu ray march 27th.
TURN IT UP. |
Re: The Chemical Brothers Movie - Dont Think
Almost exactly one week ago, about halfway through the movie, I realized I had totally forgotten to buy tickets and go to the cinema. :(

Re: The Chemical Brothers Movie - Dont Think
i haven't seen it, but i've heard the soundtrack - it's their everything, everything or Alive 2007 - really, really awesome set that doesn't quit, IMO it destroys the studio stuff

I Love You Underworld, but the Chems just raised the bar. |
Re: The Chemical Brothers Movie - Dont Think
i'm sorry,
i watched this, and although i'm only a fan of the first album and some of the second album... i didn't care too much for this video.. 1) WAY TOO MANY SHOTS OF THE CROWD! every 5 seconds is too much and it was incredibly boring to see them in every single shot 2) too many strobes, lasers, etc, that have all been used before 3) way too cliched effects and visuals, not one single one hasn't been seen or used by other groups... ballon drops? really? running animals? architecture? so many groups have used these before, and too a much better effect.. ===================================== save your money, and don't bother getting this... to me the only good thing was the actual live sound mix... if i had wanted to actually see the band, i would have watched them live on the actual tour.. that way i could have watched them, and at least seen and heard the music in context (although i would probably have the same feelings about the visuals eventually) this video doesn't seem to capture them at all, or it just such a broken experience to me that it misses the point.. (or i missed the point).. very disappointing... later -1 |

Re: The Chemical Brothers Movie - Dont Think
I think the major focus of the movie was actually to avoid the cliches that usually go along with footage of live electronic-music performances... namely the emphasis on the performance as a standalone, only ever showing the audience as a huddled mass swaying in time to it. They wanted to capture the audience's reactions to the mindblowing psychedelic experience they were beholding, because that's as much a part of it as the music and the visuals... they put up signs in Japanese telling people to ignore the cameras and enjoy the show, because they wanted to avoid any sort of "hi-mom" posturing, and I think it really shows. The audience members seem totally engulfed in the experience, and that kinda rubs off on the viewer. All in all one of my favorite concert movies.
