Interview with Karl by SW4 festival organisers

http://www.southwestfour.com/ViewInterview.aspx?Id=39

Nothing startling there apart from the last few questions:

Do you have any exciting collaborations lined up for the future?
Yes. Check our web site for updates as they begin to happen (www.underworldlive.com)

Which of these new tracks will you be looking forward to play at SW4?
The set keeps evolving as we travel around the world, changing to suit the audience and our states of mind. I'm looking forward to hearing what SW4 brings out in us.

What can we expect from Underworld in 2011?
We spent the first part of the year at the National Theatre with Danny Boyle creating the music and soundscapes for his production of Frankenstein then releasing a soundtrack album. We return to creating new material and a lot of live touring.

And finally can you send out a message as to why your fans should be come to see Underworld at South West Four?
This may be the last time to see Underworld in this form for a long time and we'll turn on everything for you all to have a great night.

hmmmm........

A reliable source told me they'll be doing their 2012 tour as energy beings. Better catch them now before your tiny mind loses the ability to comprehend them.

This kinda worries me, hope they aren't saying this is their last tour ever, I'd better make it to SW4!

i'm sorry but what do you mean by that?

What else could they mean by "this form"? Certainly not a change in the live setup. They must be ascending to a higher plane of existence.

Sure they once said they wanted UW to continue live, even if it wasn't them.

Something like that sounds fantastic.

that's worrisome..still never got a chance to see them in the USA

then again, Karl is kind of a talker, they generally don't reveal their plans publically too often do they?

what I mean is, a lot of times during the webstreams, he'd say a lot of totally bizarre and wacky things in jest, so who knows what he means by anything

Re: Interview with Karl by SW4 festival organisers

awww no. i really wanted to see them again, in this 'actual form' or whatever.

maybe the collabs are underworld+other bands. i remember reading a karl interview and he mentioned working with radiohead. (<<<< i wish this could happen. after that, everything else won't matter, even if the final product is crap, i'll die happy, etc etc)

also, there was a tweet by mr emerson saying something about 'greeting old friends' during ultra fest.

:'(

in a way, haven't they already done that?
having setlists for shows..less or no improvs.. lack of visual
projections..etc..

except for 'bungalow with stairs', which to me is
more a true representation of the 'underworld' sound..

hasn't the last few albums and live shows been a departure
from their normal sound? i would think 'a hundred days off'
was pretty much the last studio album that represented their
sound to me..

The whole "maybe the last time" and "in this form" thing indicatesthat maybe they'll take a year off. They didnt play anywhere in 2004 which was the last time they took a year off (from touring).

or maybe they'll go back to more imporvised sets rather than the play the album and hits formula thats been played for the past two years... with new material comes new perfomances, the last gigs have all been about promotion of the album with the greatest hits on top - this i feel will be the same as no new material is about - after that they will probably play new improvs again, but may well be in 2012....

here, here

I think OWB has moments that they return to their sound... as well as Barking has moments too.

Yeah at this point I hope they don't stay with the Barking sound. Any change seems for the better.
