Sigh. If this means what I think it means, then this is frustrating.

Anyone know the deal about why these streams can't be accessed around the globe like they used to be?

(At least we know going into this one thats its UK only though instead of sitting in front of the comp for 3 hours waiting and refreshing.)

I CONCUR, BUT IN ALL-CAPS FOR EMPHASIS.
Seriously. I can maybe understand for something like the iTunes festival where it was released partially as an EP, but there is really no excuse not to record this. Please all you UK dirts, do it for the rest of us!

Radio 1 isn't blocked worldwide (well at least not in the US; I just tried it), it's the video iplayer that doesn't work outside the UK. The webcam does not work, but the audio seems fine.

UK residents have to pay a licence fee if they own any device capable of receiving a TV signal, which funds the BBC (which is a non-commercial public owned corporation)...

If any TV content provided by the BBC was made available globally, they would be in violation of the BBC charter because it would mean people who do not pay the licence fee are able to access the content too, which isn't fair.

For content around the globe, the BBC uses its commercial arm "BBC Worldwide" to distribute content, although mostly its repeats of The Office and Faulty Towers as opposed to cutting edge concert footage ;)

Ah, so its just a problem with video? I remember watching a few UW shows via iTunes (once on my iPhone even) and listened to broadcasts on Radio1 etc.

Re: 2010-08-07 Radio 1 Cream Ibiza @ Privilege, Ibiza, Spain

Yeah its just video, but only for the BBC.... if anyone else blocks it, its probably just a rights issue.

Seeing this is going to be recorded, I'm not to bothered as I assume it'll just be the same set so far this live period.

Who's recording?

undarrenworld 08-07-2010 05:06 PM

Re: underworld live/today's essential mix

I was always wondering if better quality is FM recording from England or digital stream from Europe, me specifically in Czech Republic. It depends on the bitrate I assume. The question is, if its worth recording from here...

TheBang 08-07-2010 05:36 PM

Re: underworld live/today's essential mix

FM would be better. The BBC web stream is 48 Kbps AAC.

Hope it will be archived for a week...this is a good sounding stream. No lagging and not too much crowd sound.

Sweet merciful crap, did someone record this?
Would love to hear an UW live rendition of Downpipe! I'm gonna make you shake, i'm gonna make your hands shake!

Rest of the tracklist pretty identical to recent shows, but hey, let's hear and compare! Noticed that in the Jule 17 performance there was a little screw-up in NUXX, a rarity i;m sure, and some Rick Smith bg vox- how';s that developing?

Please UW, come to Houston! Failing that, Toronto. If not there, well, i'll make it to NYC again, i suppose!

Re: underworld live/today's essential mix

OK, here you go. This is a direct rip of the HE-AAC stream from the BBC internet stream. You need something that supports HE-AAC playback, otherwise you'll just get the AAC-LC core, and it'll sound flat. iTunes 9 and later, and iOS 3.1 and later support HE-AAC. Also, iPods from Sept. 2009 and later.

There will probably be a better version coming to RTSR later, but I know you guys can't wait.

Stimpee edit: Don't be confused by the jargon here. This is a 22mb m4a audio file and will probably play on any recent audio player. Its directly ripped from the stream, no re-encoding necessary.

88mb mp3, no editing. i haven't had time to preview but i think there was only one drop in TMO.

Cheers, Bang!

p.s. is it just me, or does the "Downpipe" vocal remind you of Karl's spoken words over "cappe Ffuno" from the Blue Mountain jam of "please help me"?

Brotherslovesdub you are a gentleman!

Awesome set, sent shivers up my spine in several places reminding me of the amazing We Love Sounds set from Sydney...(which by the way has now been patched and fixed and is in the process of being cleaned up and should be with RTSR soon :D )

Thanks, can always trust the Dirts to have stuff up within minutes..love it!!
