Having some difficulty uploading tonight however, have finished mixes of "Two Months Off" (16minutes 40seconds), "Dinosaur Adventure 3D" (14 minutes 14 seconds) and "Crocodile" (16 minutes 34 seconds) ready to go and they are also on the Dropbox if you want them. Will add links to listen to them when I can get uploads fixed.

Re: All The Mixes

Here's a 16 minute re-edit of "Two Months Off". https://soundcloud.com/mrmarkreed/tw...cation-version

Remix/re-edit of Underworld's 2002 single "Two Months Off", edited and mixed in January 2015 in WavePad/MixPad. Compiled using the 2002 "Underworld Full Length Mix", "King Unique Sunspots Mix", "John Ciafone Mix", "K-Klass Mix", and the "7" Radio Edit Mix"

Since Mixcloud is misbehaving and always stalling at 99% or 100% uploads,, I'm using Soundcloud.

And looks like Mixcloud fixed itself overnight, here it si! http://www.mixcloud.com/mrmarkreed/u...ation-version/

Many thanks again!

No remix #16..?

markreed 01-27-2015 02:59 PM

Re: All The Mixes

Cheeky! #16 was going to be "Bruce Lee", but that is one heck of a struggle that I can't quite win, and I'll come back to it in a while. I'm onto the Barking era now.

Re: All The Mixes

Here's mix #22 : Around 18 minutes and 9 seconds of "Always Loved A Film", which is my favourite UW track.

http://www.mixcloud.com/mrmarkreed/u...creen-version/

Given the lack of official physical releases, this remix and re-edit of Underworld's 2011 single "Always Loved A Film" is taken from 320kbps rips of original promotional CD's. Tracks used are the "LP Mix Club Eq.", "Extended Club Mix", "Underworld Instrumental", "Lemonworld Mix", "Michael Woods Mix", "Wood Dub", "Solo Remix", and "Lazer Fingers Mix". Edited and resequenced in WavePad and MixPad. I've used tiny fragments of the Lemonworld mix for texture, very quietly. Doubt you'll hear those!

As a guide to what I have done :
1. Opening 8 seconds taken from mid-bridge of Instrumental, looped, and faded

2. Opening 4 minutes from Club EQ of LP version, with looped fade in on drums

2b. Vocals stripped out from intro around 2.10 and and then instrumental sections spliced in. "The Rhythm, The Rhythm..." is moved to 8.58, and the track starts on a verse not a pre-chorus.

3. Bridge crossfade into Instrumental version around 4.34

4. Loop and edit of 2nd half of instrumental which then cross mixed into the LP intro, then back into the instrumental version 1st half..

5. Splice in vocal intros pre-verse at 8.58-9.30 ("The Rhythm, The Rhythm").. and around 10.08-10.38 from Club EQ LP mix. The "Can You Feel It?" vocal is dropped out, so it's just the "Heaven, Heaven", section.

6. Back to Instrumental (First half)

7. Bridge cross fade into Michael Wood vocal at 11.40

8. Cross Fade into Lazer Fingers mix first verse vocal around 13.21

9. Cross fade into Club EQ LP mix Second Chorus vocal Part 2 around 14.20 to climax

10. Isolate and loop Piano Stabs from Instrumental Bridge at 17.45, add effects and slowly fade out

11. Add distorted vocal to fade under the Piano Stabs.

There you are! Hope you like it. It'll be on Dropbox in an hour.

Re: All The Mixes

Incidentally, there are three more I'll probably do "Bird 1", "Scribble", "Diamond Jigsaw", and maybe "Bruce Lee". If all done, that'll be 24 mixes in chronological order.

(I've tried the mixes of "Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream Of Love", "Cups" and "Banstyle" and those just don't work successfully yet, so I'm canning then).

Re: All The Mixes

when all this is done, these should go up on the tracker as the "markreed mega mega remix pack"

markreed 01-28-2015 02:34 PM

Re: All The Mixes

When I get the hang of the tracker, I'll put those up myself... I'll be at the Hammersmith gig so if anyone wants to buy me a pint, be my guest ;)

Re: All The Mixes

Here's another one : http://www.mixcloud.com/mrmarkreed/u...etch-a-sketch/

"Scribble (Etch-A-Sketch)". Remix and re-edit of Underworld's 2010 track "Scribble". Edited and mixed in WavePad/MixPad January 2015, using 320bps MP3's of "LP Version", "Instrumental", "Netsky Mix", "You Do Scribble (Lemonworld)", and "Underworld Single Mix". I've used the promo CD as there's no commercial release (and the LP mix is then mastered consistently with the other mixes).

Quick guide to edits :

a. Ending bar of Instrumental lopped and faded in
b. LP mix to around 1.18
c. Instrumental version to around 2.30
d. First verse and chorus of Radio Edit to approx 4.18
e. Crossfade with Netsky mix at bridge, with re-edit of first Netsky verse and structure to 8.47
f. LP mix verse 2, first chorus, and second chorus to 10.57
g. Crossfade into Lemonworld demo at 10.57

Will be on Dropbox tonight.

Re: All The Mixes

I'm really enjoying this scribble one, about halfway through the netsky section, so far.

Re: All The Mixes

Here's my version of "Cups".

http://www.mixcloud.com/mrmarkreed/u...uble-gulp-mix/

Only two mixes to start with, but hopefully not too bad. It's on my Dropbox. Have fun.

Re: All The Mixes

Gotta give you credit for ambition and thoroughness! I think the most successful/ interesting mixes are those where the remixes deviate a lot from the original. Otherwise, the repetition can get old or sound basically like listening to the remix CD through, only without an inter track pause . In DJ mixes I do, I think mixing two versions of a track can be effective. Variety is the spice of life!
Still, great effort on these. I've made my share of UW mixes and have enjoyed the creativity of mixes posted by dirties here.

markreed 02-08-2015 01:29 AM

Re: All The Mixes

I know exactly what you mean. The approach I always take is not a radical remix, but more thinking of the original Underworld version as an edit of a much longer track, and seeing what I can do to add elements and sounds from the other released versions, rearranged, with occasional edits, effects and so on. It may seem strange but to me, 13 minutes of "Mmmm Skyscraper" doesn't feel long enough!

Re: All The Mixes

Here's ANOTHER one.

https://www.mixcloud.com/mrmarkreed/...uce-goose-mix/

February 2015 remix/re-edit of Underworld's 2011 single "Bird 1", made using original stems, and elements of the Underworld LP mix, Radio Edit, Instrumental. Farfletched, SBTRKT Remix, Clouds Mix, Lone Remix, and Mark Broom Vocal Mix. 19minutes 58 seconds.

It's in the Dropbox.

markreed 02-15-2015 07:42 AM

Re: All The Mixes

Last one. https://www.mixcloud.com/mrmarkreed/...-extended-mix/

Extended Version of "Diamond Jigsaw" made using WavePad/MixPad. February 2015 remix/re-edit of Underworld's 2011 single "Diamond Jigsaw" featuring relements from "Underworld Mix", "Barking Demo", "Moguai Mix", "Morgan Page Mix", "Wagon Cookin Mix", "James Dean Bradfield Mix", and "Expensive Looks Version". Basic re-edit - not one of the 30 minutes mixes, just tried to create a long and fun version of the track, looping and layering the isolated guitar parts for a new intro, slicing in the Moguai verse, then looping and re-layering a mid track breakdown. It's on Dropbox. Have fun!

And here, unless something happens, is the end of it, at 7 hours 41 minutes and about 30 seconds.

Re: All The Mixes

Again, good for you for completeness! But you missed my point earlier...

Listen, I know what it's like to create out of love for an indifferent audience. Its good practice.

But too much of a readily available thing?

markreed 02-16-2015 12:02 AM

Re: All The Mixes

Maybe, but I did it fir me, not anyone else..

markreed 02-16-2015 01:23 PM

Re: All The Mixes

I meant I did these for myself, and thought I'd stick them up in case anyone else was interested. They're not 'remixes' as such, the approach I had was to re-edit and rearrange existing material (much like a 'Fan Edit' of a film) to see how they could sound different and the same. I don't like remixes where people only keep one drum hit out of the original track, and since UW sound pretty much perfect as they are, I don't want to radically alter the original sound really. Not so much missing the point, as having a different point.
