Cheers for this testudo!

Been dying to know what this was called ever since I heard it. :)

I don't know if it's called that... (maybe one of our betters
could do that for us)

Sorry for the misinfomation from my thread title if you
took it that way.

the title 'advice from a horse' is the name of the movie
(which features this illustrious song) in the interective
section 'sleeping eye' in the tomato ps2 game(?)
'wordimagesoundplay'.

Sorry again for the misinfo(not that it is that uncommon for
this forum) :)

I've never heard the tracks from WISP, what they in the style of the RiverRun sound?

Re: advice from a horse = 1st track of hmh 2005

remix/extended sounds of momove
ansum chop up
bleeps
bells
ringing rings

it's really tough, cause according to the credits
rick was in the construction for all sounds for 3 of
the 4 sections, makes it worth checking out. i mean
rick making VG sounds is something that you can't
really catagorise into sounds like anything else UW.
the phonology section is by far the most new sounds
though it does sound more like tomato installation
stuff than anything directly related to UW.

Sorry for appropriating your thread (and for changing the title), testudo, but this thread seemed the most appropriate for this discussion.

I've never seen it (as I never even owned a PS2), but I seem to recall that someone said that - while some "songs" are background bits (with no discernible end/beginning - kinda like "Kippers" off the old UW live) - there still were some distinct songs

...and I feel like someone said there's a different version of "Ansum" on it too?

You inspired me to pull it out and try again. I tried a few years ago, but wasn't able to make much progress. This time I actually got some working audio. Also, having a working PS2 emulator helped give some much needed context to the audio. It's not perfect though; the emulator froze up in several places and there were graphical glitches in others. But it was still enough to explore a lot of the disc.

There are 4 sections to wisp. "Phonology," "Miracles & Wonders," "Latlong," and "Sleeping Eye." According to the credits, Smith/Hyde is responsible for the audio for almost everything except "Latlong," which is by Johnny Conquest (aka Tomato).

"Phonology" crashed on me in the emulator, and I wasn't able to extract any music. I think most of it is assembling sounds from a lot of small samples. I think.

"Miracles & Wonders" has "8 different remixes of Underworld Ansum." In truth, I wouldn't really say 8 different remixes. It's mostly just pieces of Ansum chopped up. Nothing too special, and I've had a hard time extracting the audio properly. There are a lot of nice spoken word samples though.

"Sleeping Eye" is the most interesting part. I believe it is the "play" part of the title, and it has about a dozen different mini-"games". There's a lot of audio design here. The problem is that a lot of it is assemblage, and not much in the way of "songs." As testudo mentioned, Darc makes an appearance here as the "Advice from a Horse," a wacky interstitial. The horse has 11 different sayings. Here's one of them:

Here's another one that has Mo Move elements. There's a lot of Mo Move used in "Sleeping Eye."

This one is my favorite. It starts off as Mo Move and ends up as Soopher. We always knew they shared a common lineage, but it's cool to hear them mixed together like when they play Rowla and Cherry Pie together live.

Re: wordimagesoundplay (wisp) - Underworld sounds and music

thanks for the files!!!!!

downloading now

(edit)
oh wow

the file labeled as 'grape' is INCREDIBLE
I could be wrong... but it almost sounds like there's a bit of percussion that ended up also being used in "Autotrader, Version 3"

it's also crazy that "Darc"/"Parc" has been kicking around THAT LONG (b/c wasn't WISP from just after AHDO?) and yet.... it's only been officially released as a live track
and I mean... the intro bit sounds pretty identical to the live version... maybe it wasn't used till now b/c of a lack of lyrics?

(edit 2)
about extracting audio...
have you thought about simply recording it as if it were analogue?
like simply... plug the playstation into your stereo (or computer if you have the necessary cables)
play the game/let it run while you have your stereo/computer recording?
