its probably stuff written by fans / reviewers who don't have the whole story... it prolly includes some of my own site which has certainly incomplete 'truths' about the bands origins... (sorry R&K) there are loads of bits and pieces of hearsay that go to make up UW's history and origins, i am certainly gonna go back to my site and redo a lot of the pages when i get the time and only record what i know is the nearer the truth rather than what may be, because unless you were there - its unlikley that what's written anywhere is 100% correct, unless it was said directly by R&K...too many articles and stories paraphrase stuff about the band... but thats what happens, sadly, and i am certainly guilty of it too... still i wish i was there back in the day when keyboard suits were all the rage... ;) |
Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
i didn't know Darren is touring, will he be in Holland as well?
Darren if you read this: hi from Marlou (tilburg) :) Karl, have you ever seen this? absolutely amazing art, wearable art! and a big part of their collection is inspired by Underworld's music, if only i had money i'ld be wearing it: http://www.darkstarfashion.com/soundscapes.php My favourite still is the MoMove-collection, the blue is so beautiful, and UWtext handprinted on it. Love it :) |
Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
I thought Mr. Hyde would be listed on the Pig site somewhere with his additional work on Sinsation.
|
Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
Is that Darren's touring rig in the picture?
:p |
Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
Only the finest touring digs for Mr. Pricey.

yea ... and what's weird, is that on Saturday night, my friends and I were talking about that same song, and how it was in Trainspotting and the UW connection to Trainspotting, and how the early cut of the film was just UW music |
Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
Tacita Dean is awesome, I love The Russian Ending.

Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
I like the recent posts. The black/white images with words tied into the angles, sometimes upside down... These posts are the most Underworld posts I've seen in a long time. I feel like I'm looking at clips of new songs every day.

i really enjoyed the update with the picture of the 4 peaches :D
also, i'm hoping that "talking late to america" is hinting at possible tour dates... |
Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
Yes, i suppose he means it's the "Peach Tree" from the song. Nice to see the "fruits" of their labor.

Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
I mean, honestly, is it too much to ask these days that a cell phone be capable of making calls? That's all I care about.
|
Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
it's got to be in the settings somewhere, karl ;)
what sort of phone is it anyway? |
Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
I have a RAZR and the settings are in an odd place under tools where it says sounds off...dunno why the manuals have to be as thick as a novel either. it's baffling.

Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
Saw the UWlive posts for the weekend. Glad you liked the banner, Karl. Didn't want to keep it up when we saw you were filming cos it would have got in everyone's way :)
And I figured Karl wasn't 100% on form at the end of the set. But it was still the most amazing UW gig I have ever had the pleasure of being at. Thank you so much. :D |
Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
Regarding todays posting on uwlive about 'Grandmaster Warner steers the good ship dirty to safety?'
Are the waters choppy or is this just in response to the forums being up sporadically the few days post cocoon? |
Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
Tomorrow and the day after the first 2 Russian concerts ever.
Have fun both boys and crowd! |
Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
RICK / KARL
my recs for brazilian music to look for: 1. marijo -- any album but specifically any one with the song "fio maravilha" on it is golden! 2. domenico + 2 -- ANYTHING! |
Re: The Underworldlive.com thread
no records but highly recommend these couple of things in sau paulo and rio as well as just getting out on the street and walking (especially sau paulo - what a place!)
1. oscar nieymeyer - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscar_Niemeyer plenty in both cities to see - the copan building in SP is incredible. highly recommend a quick trip to brazilia - mind blowing stuff there. 2. roberto burle marxe - every garden I saw was worth the trip, his drawings and their translation onto the paving at copacabana! get a spot high up in one of the hotels and just stare down at it for an hour. 3. http://www.mam.org.br/ 4. http://masp.uol.com.br/ - and the garden across the street (the playground in the center is amazing, spent most of my time at the playgrounds of SP with my then 2.5 year old daughter). the building is by an incredible woman whose name escapes me at the moment. got it - lina bo bardi - http://www.gsd.harvard.edu/research/...sta_meyer.html 5. paulo mendes da rocha - the museum of sculpture in SP http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulo_A...endes_da_Rocha yummy place. could go on and on and you only have a small time - miss the return flight, you'll be very happy. to me sau paulo was an incredible place and rio was one of the most magical landscapes ever. enjoy and do tell what your glass eye sees. :) |

Karl:
As Mercenarias - An all female post punk band from about 25 years ago, there album was put out on Souljazz records last year. Panico! - one of the tracks to listen to is one of the best http://www.souljazzrecords.co.uk/releases/?id=1509 The same label also did a compilation of Brazillian post punk which has some ace stuff on it. Check it: http://www.souljazzrecords.co.uk/releases/?id=228 |
