wow. i missed it too. wtf.

its great that these are being distributed at all, but i have to say, wtf good is it selling them on ebay if they are only listed for a few hours? its not like the resellers are seeing that brief period and saying, "damn, better not resell mine at a high price cuz ebay is flooded with them"

in fact, its more reason for them to list at a high price being that the demand is so friggin huge.

i was #11 but that was only 50 seconds into the auction!

and to be fair to yannick, he did give everyone a heads up. and there's another batch of 50 appearing next week so you've no excuses really if you don't get hold of a copy then...

Charleswise, that asshole was me, but I'm not even sure I'll get all 4! Anyway, I hope I didn't offend anyone; I can assure that those 3 extra copies won't end up on Ebay for ridiculous prices; they are for friends who were working today ('in the field', no internet connection available), and they're real UW fans, believe me.

Like I said, I was not trying to offend anyone, just making an observation. I have removed the message so as not to offend.

No offence taken Charleswise (should have written that right away in my previous post). I understand your concerns and I'm truly sorry if you missed out... Hope you'll have more luck in a few days time, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I didn't get one since I was working, but will wait patiently for the next batch! Please put it up on one of my days off! ;)

They weren't listed for a few hours -- the discs were listed for a week or until they were all sold; the 50 that went up just didn't take all that long to go.

I think this was handled very well: an obscure auction title, a couple of days warning about the auction, and a specific time when they'd become available. In retrospect I have to say that even selling them via eBay was a very good choice because it makes how and when they were sold very transparent: you can see who bought how many and exactly when they were sold, and eBay very carefully manages the security and timing of auctions so we know that info is accurate.

As it seems it's mainly our friends across the Atlantic that have lost out here, and I suspect largely because of the auction coming on at 4am, maybe Yannick and friends can start the next auction at a time more suitable for our Yank buddies. Just a thought, nothing approaching a complaint. And I sincerely hope that everyone who missed out today gets lucky on the next run. It's not like Glasto tickets anyway, just get to a PC shortly after the listing starts and you'll be well in. So no whinging.

I set a reminder in my Outlook calendar today. Thank you Bill Gates.
