i am not too into the vocoder either, i also wish it was karls voice that was prominent and the vocoder was in the background. this is WAY different than the vocoder usage in stiti. here it seems it is either a computer, or the vocoder is delayed.

i am hoping for something nicer. alaf is what i like, but needs more lyrics, as many as this song.

oooo... thanks for the better rip stimpee! while the vocoder's a bit "harsh"... i'd say the track has the potential to blow the roof off of a small-ish venue (read Hammerstein Ballroom for those New Yorker dirts here).

as i said before, i'm intrigued! ears perked up for sure.

bring it!

Hammerstein is a small venue? It's like the largest we have. ;(

Just my two cents - if you can relate to the music, who cares if it's good?

i think this songs got a sexy groove to it.
not even sure if Karls voice is being ' vocoded '...sounds more like a filter, or distortion.
keep em coming !

i am more interested in this concept of a "project" that pete tong referred to.... also the idea that karl will reveal more some time soon. somebody throw a stale crumb to the damned birds..... (yannick, no letter anagrams). vocorder no vocorder, everyone one is ready for it. so bring it.

First off, thanks Stimpee for sharing!

Lots of good, valid comments in this thread and we can debate the use/misuse of vocoding, old vs. new material, whether Tong sounded enthused/bored, etc...

Key thing is, we've got new music coming, potentially lots of it! Not every track is gonna impact with everyone, fan or not...this may be a case where the remix ("Bang the Poll" Woolford mix) is better than the original. It happens. Anyway, this is still a white label. "Electronic Part One"..sounds like the "electronic Battle Weapon" series that the Chemical Brothers employ to test their new sounds. Some elements are kept, others get tossed. If this is part of a 25 minute suite, it could be the best/worst/medium bit of a hugely epic track. i've got my fingers crossed that it'll rock, and til then will reserve judgement of two artists who have always produced great tunes!
:)

Might be just me, but I'm hearing multi layered vocal tracks (3-4). There's Karl with no effect, in sync with a high pitched vocoder, then a low pitched vocoder, and maybe even a third at some points when the beat gets thrown off course(LOVE IT!) here and there. Forgive me if I've used these terms incorrect(you die-hard techy-producers of the future), I'm not trained in music other than simply an appreciator of it.

Hearing from those commenting on a the vocoder being too heavy, just a suggestion for future listens. Don't think I've ever heard a track using this style of vocal/vocoder layering, if that's actually what I'm hearing (only two times, & I'm off to my third & fouth, this shit's like crack). Love the shit-talking Karl's throwing around, always wondered what his wicked side is like and his subtle/abstract way of doing so stays true to form.
