At first, by how people were talking... I was kinda expecting something like the Switch remix, or something along the lines of those old FSOL remixes from the mid 90's - where "it's like a whole different song"

but this... IT DOESN'T EVEN SOUND LIKE A SONG. It sounds unfinished.... like someone playing around with their new "dj remixing software program".

Some of the sounds/ samples sound like presets that are way way way out of place. Like that little bell ring sound, the horn section... ugh

and then the bit where the vocal comes in - just annoys me

It sounds like the "remixes" I used to do with "Mixman" back in 1998

come to think of it - the warble on the vocal section sounds almost EXACTLY like the warble effect in Mixman (if I remember correctly)

remix has clearly split the viewers - we have those who can see this in club, and those who can't see the wood for the wires! ;)

too many people here are not gonna like disc one of this album (and any the remixes)

disc two will be ok... they seem like old dated versions, where underworld are not progressing and moving with the times... this remix is awesome, kinda like the fake blood style remix of ring road - bring it on... you boring techno loving fools...

Its an interesting mix. Which cheese your waving this time BSS..Stilton or Edam....!? :D
Its a good thing surely that all elements in electronic music see Underworld as pretty much the Dons....

I've had a chance to listen to all the remixes a good few times now and much as it pains me to say it I don't really like any of them save for the extended mix by UW themselves.

I've been a DJ for 15 years now and remixes are my stock in trade, and usually I can find a place for different mixes in different sets, but these are just bland in different ways.

The Breakage remix is functional dubstep. It sounds quite nice but does nothing really.

The Michael Woods versions are souped up for the big clubs with big building synths only to kick into a stripped down tech beat. It's a bit like crossing Jacques Lu Cont remixes with minimal! They will work for the crowd they're aimed at but I can't see myself playing them.

The Solo remix is trying to be in the Duck Sauce / Fake Blood style but lacks any of the hooks associated with those acts. Again it just feels functional.

I have to say the original has grown on me. I thought it was too polished the first few times I heard it, especially after being used to the Brixton versions, but it's clearly got radio play in its sights, and it deserves to get it.

Still, can't wait to hear the version on CD 2. :)

Oh, how I wish Underworld would do something with Stuart Price. I'd have been thrilled if he co-produced the whole record.

I'm definitely in the 'I want 3 minutes of my life back' camp.

I'm sure there is a market for contentless bouncy cheese loops, but I can't see much overlap with Underworld's mature, intelligent fanbase.
