running fakes

seriously, how much of a demand are there for fake limited
edition running shoes?

really, i'm surprised they would even bother..
i'm sure they're somewhat rare, but why
make fakes of them?

actually - they're more of a dark green and red...
if I remember correctly (I'm not wearing them at the moment), but the shell-toe & bottom is black, and the insole (inside the shoe) is yellow w/ lyrics to an Ian Brown song written inside

- oh and there's a gold plastic-thingy at the base of the shoe lases

I don't get it either, but there's a HUGE market for fake 'collectable' shoes and clothes... I had no idea about it until I really got into UNKLE. At first I wanted to get some related shirts (Futura2000 inspired designs, etc) or Bape stuff, but I couldn't find them anywhere for less than really really really ridiculous prices... then I started finding cheap online stores / auctions

that's when I found out that there are actually 'established' businesses that do nothing but make fake/pirated/bootleg versions of clothing

and like - these are freakin' t-shirts and tennis shoes!

sometimes they're obvious fakes, like the design is off or the colors are wrong... while others are a bit more tricky to decipher

...needless to say - I never got into the whole 'collectable' t-shirt or tennis shoe "deal" as you're put into two situations

(1) you're paying waaaaaay too much $$$ for clothes that you can't really wear

[or]

(2) you pay not-too-much (but still kinda pricey) for items that are fake

...actually - I think the Ian Brown shoes might just be the most expensive pair of shoes I've ever bought (including dress shoes) - and I even bought them at the Adidas store (so it was retail)

uw fake shoes repair for reasonable price by ....

ok, but the thing about the underworld shoes
is they are pretty unique..

wouldn't it cost a lot to reproduce the graphics,
the inks, the fabrics, etc???

that's a lot of trouble to go through, especially
for these shoes, i guess, i'll just have to check
if they're reputable dealers..

some of the ones online (and I DONT MEAN
TO OFFEND ANYONE FROM THERE)...are
from Hong Kong , etc.....so , yeah buyer beware..

not to say that fakes don't come from US/EUROPE/etc...

How can you spot the fakes? I was looking at eBay last night and found a store which had like 5 pairs of varying sizes. They were $62 starting bids. I'm at work and can't get a link but I searched for "underworld adidas". I REALLY want a pair of these but pnly if theyr'e authentic. Thanks.

This link posted earlier has some pretty detailed pics. http://www.pickyourshoes.com/casual/...underworld.htm

If they haven't got Underworld on the back tab of one shoe and Tomato on the back of the other, that's a bad sign for a start. The other thing would be the soles of the shoes which, as you can see in these pix, have a very distinct design, and also the insoles which have random lyrics on them.

If you are unsure, I would suggest emailing the store and asking for all these details to be confirmed, and ask them to confirm they are genuine. If you then purchase them and find they aren't, you can get your money back through your credit card company/paypal/whoever and return them. Sucks to have to do that, but unless you can actually look at the shoes before you buy them, there is no way to tell 100%

I got the Born Slipp .NUXX single with Orbital's Halcyon (orginal) yesterday, but I can't find Prodigy's One Love single. Does anybody have an electric copy of "Rhythm of Life"?

Question for all of you, really: Are the "New" and "Mint" things on ebay LPs usually accurate for reputable vendors?
