Re: NEW ALBUM: Someday World (hyde+eno)
After listening to the samples on iTunes, the only two tracks I'm interested in hearing more of are To Us All and Mother of a Dog.

2 great musical geniuses have somehow combined to totally neutralise each other. Some albums have that one boring track that you skip, that should just have been a b-side with something better on the a... this album has 9 of those.
The packaging of the 2CD version is really nice, and that's about all I can say about it. I've filed it on a CD shelf. I can't really see me ever picking it up again. |

Well, I suppose somebody has to, so I'll chime in with positive remarks - I absolutely love this. The melodies are quite simple and poppy, but also big and pretty, which I like. The whole thing makes me smile and has a great energy to it. Edgeland meets early Eno pop stuff meets Eno/Byrne Afrobeat inspired stuff, all things I really like.

Re: NEW ALBUM: Someday World (hyde+eno)
Of what I've heard so far, it's OK. It's not my typical fare, and doesn't really ring me particularly, but I've certainly heard worse. It will definitely be in my collection, but I don't see myself returning too terribly often, espescially with all the other choices they've each provided me over the years. I don't think it's either party's best work, but I'd be remiss to say it's out and out awful. It's a nice glimpse into where Karl's head is these days, though.

Re: NEW ALBUM: Someday World (hyde+eno)
Yes, it´s interesting to hear the typical Karl Hyde sound and essence. I even hear some similarities to Edgeland here and there. More difficult to hear Eno´s contribution, except his vocals of course, but I don´t know his work so well.
Guys, could you please tell me which track/which part is afrobeat? Just so I understand what that means. Many thanks. Quote:

Re: NEW ALBUM: Someday World (hyde+eno)
I like this album. It's so 80s... Most vocals are really good, and some parts reminds me of Underworld (Witness, When I Built This World). Daddy's Car is really brilliant, especially bass line... I like it.
It's better than 'Barking' (worst UW album IMHO) and far much better than 'Edgeland' (which I don't like at all). |

Generally echoes a lot of the feelings around here. A lot of stuff that could have been better. |
