This whole thing has felt like an episode of Lost, where the survivors divide over questions of logic and questions of faith.

(i'm still with the camp who like it, though.) |
Re: Good Day Today
...I still wouldn't mind a copy of the "fake Underworld" track
Also - is it just me, or has the quality of "fake songs" gone seriously up in recent years. I mean, all those countless, horrible fake ones that you'd find on Napster back in the late 90's and nowadays - I've even actually purchased 12"-es for a 'fake mix' - Most recently, the Digitalism "Taken Away" Justice Remix... it wasn't by Justice, it was some random electro duo or something.... |

Re: Good Day Today
Finally just caught up on this whole controversy/correction now. What fun! :D:D The song's okay, but I think it could really stand to go somewhere. It acts like it's going to when the synths pick up just shy of a minute in, but then it just returns to the same loops. And adds the gunshots. I'm guessing that those gunshots sit more cleanly in the mix if we were to hear an un-compressed version of the song.

Re: Good Day Today
Did anybody listen to Morning Becomes Eclectic today? Any further info?
|
Re: Good Day Today
That's aggravating. It really does sound like UW. As much as Ring Road or so many other songs. Now I want to know who it is. I asked Jason on his Twitter. We'll see.
|
Re: Good Day Today
I asked him too but no reply. Still waiting for further info from Chrysalis.

Re: Good Day Today
Ow wow, i love this! Partial mystery solved by learning it's not UW, but who is it really by? Some kid in his bedroom? I'll fall over if it turns out to be by Mr. & Mrs. Christmas ;P
The thing is, despite what many of us thought was a very large departure in style (yes, there are percolating chords and an electro beat and vocoders, but let's be honest, none of them are up to the quality we expect in terms of UW production -and those gunshots? I still wondered how Ricky could sleep at night putting them in)...it's actually a very catchy song, so much so that me and others were willing to suspend disbelief. I actually really want to know who this is by so i can hear more from them. Still, no harm no foul to listeners on either side of the "this is/isn't Underworld" debate. It was an interesting week, for sure. And "Scribble"'s still tops. |

Reply from @jason_bentley:
@JonFoxPhoto I really want to know too. Can you Shazam it? The mystery continues. Let's solve it for Mr. DJ. |
Re: Good Day Today
I know i'm crazy but, I'm still holding onto a sliver of hope that this is Underworld related. Joethelion's Brian Eno comparison really has me curious if this isn't some track that is part of their collaboration that mistakenly got pressed and sent to KCRW.

Re: Good Day Today
ahahahahahahah!
|
Re: Good Day Today
i know. it's sad.
|
Re: Good Day Today
that's not even the extent of the wild scenario i've dreamed up.
|
Re: Good Day Today
it's going to really suck if this track turns out to be like...
a side project by the frontman of some random "indie" band oh god - isn't the lead singer of the Killers doing just that????? nononononononononono..... (edit) not that the Killers were bad but I mean... ya know... |
Re: Good Day Today
I still think there should be some mention of a forthcoming track titled Good Day Today online. While it doesn't sound like a complicated track, there is a sophistication about the production and restraint used that makes me believe it's from a seasoned producer. I'm still thinking about it! argh! Wish I could get some closure.:(:p

Re: Good Day Today
I play this song like 3 times a day and it's never getting old. If the band did this on purpose as some kind of marketing strategy, then they are geniuses because I haven't been this desperate to find the artist of a particular song in a long time.

Oooh, that would be devious, but also awesome! (1) the track is not by Underworld, but someone is clever enough to slip it past labeled as such. Why, then, did the tracklist of Morning Becomes Eclectic sya "Chrysalis"? Someone needs to get sued. (2) the track is by Underworld, but they're denying it for some reason (to gauge response? Some bands floor test a record- why not radio test it?) (3) the track is not by Underworld, and the radio producers have really dropped the ball, so someone else is not getting their due exposure or should be reprimanded for implying that they are UW. Honest misunderstandings, but no one' a winner yet |

hardly geniuses. a few plays on a regional radio station and a bit of comment on one unrelated bands fans forum. its not the great rock and roll swindle is it? ;) |
Re: Good Day Today
well, i see more discussion in this thread than the Scribble one lately :(
|
Re: Good Day Today
who ever this is (if its not underworld) should stand up, cause that group/entity would have an instant fanbase

lol kidding ;)

Re: Good Day Today
Does anyone have an update on who the artist of this song is? I refuse to let this go.
|
Re: Good Day Today
yea - I found myself humming the melody to it this morning...
it is odd that we haven't found out who did the track - usually it comes out within a few days/weeks unless it really was a Karl Hyde or Rick Smith related production... |
