rob base and dj ez rock "it takes two" "salsa house" richie rich and more recently "pussy hole" dizzie rascal. don't knock the sample, its a corner stone of dance music !

the sample itself is not what bugs me, it's that it saunters in without any reason at all and adds to the pile of not-so-classic tracks that just threw it in.

although dizzee *is* a recent example and thats a damn fine one too..

it still feels like it's a little too awful to be done with a straight face though, so even though the idea is slowly eroding in my head, a large part of all this yelling is convinced that this is (or needs to be plleeeeeze) one big joke.

you have to admit though...
there's definitely more response to these remixes than the BB ones.

and the RR remixes are definitely more different (amongst each other) than the BB ones

(honestly, you can't tell me... that good as they are - that the Beautiful Burnout mixes don't sound a lot alike)

i stopped caring about remixes since AHDO, i havent bothered to listen to about 90% of them since. i'm not going to search out for consistently middling interpretations of underworld songs. thats not a fun time.
theres more response to this one because it's featured on the website (making it a lot easier to access) and because it's "different" in a completely awful way.

i'd hardly call 2 threads (1 about this mix) a lot more response,
to all the talk (look it up), about the different versions, videos,
promos, and remixes of beautiful burnout...

and no, they don't sound the same, unless you consider the
exclude the dub mixes...they're all very unique, including
the edits...the video mix, the 'what dog mix', etc..

Mr Snares is one of my favourite artists due to his amazing creative nature and rocks live. Sure UW played one of his classical meets breakcore tracks on an old radio show.

Plugging all the talented musicians 'round these parts actually. :) But I am a cheap little tramp when it comes to anyone letting me do a remix for them. Why not.....it's fun!

And as far as this Fake Blood mix goes, I dislike it because it's so exceedingly average and generic. Although "average" implies a higher level of quality than I hear in it. I'm fine with samples being used, old or new, as long as they're used in inventive and/or effective ways. This remix sounds like something that someone just sat down one afternoon and banged out for kicks, but put no real thought into. And to be totally fair, it sounds to me as if it was done by someone who's capable of much better, but who instead took a bunch of cheesy shortcuts and diced up vocals, slapped them together and called it a mix.

It reminds me of when I'm working on a track and am having trouble thinking of something good to do next with it, so I find some pre-made loop and drop it in as a cheap way out.....and inevitably, when I play it for my wife, she'll pinpoint that exact loop and say "that doesn't sound as good as what you usually do".

Yes it's subjective, but Underworld has always maintained a certain level of inventiveness and originality, and this remix displays neither. It sounds like something that should go on one of those "club hits 2008" type of CD compilations that are jam-packed with mediocre, soulless, filler music.

Fake Blood does have better remixes while still having almost the exact same elements that people are calling cheap and derivative. actually the first remix of his that i've heard was the remix of Bonde De Role's Marina Gasolina, which actually retains a bit more elements of the original track in a way. both Fake Blood and Bonde De Role play more of a Bailefunk style (certainly not close to UW remixes) with Bonde De Role being signed to Diplo's label (and Fake Blood having a few more remixes of other artists on that label).

in some ways Fake Blood is remixing a "song" that's quite different than what he normally remixes. Ring Road is certainly a lot more laid back song. and Underworld gets a remix that is certainly a change from whatever it was they've been known for.

Thank you.

But I have to argue that it is a bit minimal.
