Hey, joethelion: thanks for getting in touch. I've invited you to the humyo share. check it out.

Re: Leftfield recordings thread: that 'old' Leftfield show (begging for a copy)

Hey -

I signed up, and uploaded the "Original" single (with the promo-only "Drift" mix)
although - I might've just uploaded them to "my files"

can you access them?

crank 03-02-2010 10:40 AM

Re: Leftfield recordings thread: that 'old' Leftfield show (begging for a copy)

the interface is strange for sure. you have to right click on the file and pull down to share with friends or something...
PS I don't see you or your files

Hi,

Did you all manage to upload your live sets anywhere? I've been reading through the thread but it all sounds a bit too technical for me! I would really appreciate it if one of you could let me know where I can download them.

Thank you

Natalie:)

Re: Leftfield recordings thread: that 'old' Leftfield show (begging for a copy)

...honestly - I kinda got distracted, and the Humyo thing was a little of a hassle

so I ended up only uploading a couple of things - and I'm not sure if others did as well...

crank 05-26-2010 09:24 AM

Re: Leftfield recordings thread: that 'old' Leftfield show (begging for a copy)

it was a pain. I tried to upload some stuff too.. havent revisited it in months. got way too busy.

Re: Leftfield recordings thread: that 'old' Leftfield show (begging for a copy)

Humyo is a hassle until you get used to it. Just like Dropbox. Its either that or use someone's bandwidth with a dedicated FTP server or torrent tracker.

joethelion 05-27-2010 08:53 AM

Re: Leftfield recordings thread: that 'old' Leftfield show (begging for a copy)

and honestly ... as far as live gigs

they really didn't have much variation in set-lists - so it's like... if you find two or three different recordings from the R+S Tour - then you pretty much know what every show on that tour was like

And I don't think I ever found a Liveism Tour recording that was decent... like - there are at least one or two soundboard recordings, but (if memory serves me - I haven't listened to them in a long time) there's bad distortion throughout many of the songs

there were however, some really great b-sides and whatnot
and I still haven't tracked them all down

Just found a nice Leftfield soundboard from the Liveism '94 gig - http://www.mixriot.com/content/leftf...-1994-part-one

The website seems to want you to subscribe to download, but the flash audio player works, and it seems to be possible to download the files directly by looking at the page source.

if you can find the link that works in the source let me know. i'm getting a permissions error with the mp3 link I found in there.

https://www.mixriot.com/audio/play/4971 for pt1 and https://www.mixriot.com/audio/play/4972 for pt2.

Right-click save-as to grab the mp3 directly..

Re: Leftfield recordings thread: that 'old' Leftfield show (begging for a copy)

This is the Nottingham gig btw @ 128kbps

snakeblood 08-23-2010 08:30 AM

Re: Leftfield recordings thread: that 'old' Leftfield show (begging for a copy)

Are there really other bootlegs out there from the Liveism tour other than Nottingham? And does anyone really have anything better than a 192kbps MP3 of it?

Reason for asking is that about 18 months ago I made contact with one of the guys who did the lightshow on the tour. If I remember our chat rightly the Nottingham recording only came about by chance with one of the sound crew sticking a DAT in to record the gig. The DAT itself went missing shortly afterwards and I remember the guy being surprised any kind of copy had surfaced.

I do know that MTV filmed the Manchester gig on the tour, including band interviews, but whether it was ever screened I have no idea. I would LOVE to get my hands on that tape!

Doing some more research on this a few years ago it also looked as if one of the 1995 UK festival appearances had been recorded (and broadcast?) on radio.

Does anyone know any more about either of these?

this link's still live, downloading now - cheers georg!

what's the best r&s tour recording(s) to look out for? any help/links appreciated
also if any new recordings turn up from the current shows, that'd obviously be awesome.

i was lucky enough to catch them live at homelands in 2000 - being a festival set it wasn't anything like as loud as they were famous for, and i was having a slightly frustrating drug experience (or lack thereof), but still enjoyed the show :)

the brixton 96 gig was filmed too.
also:
the nottingham recording is from rock city, 1996.
the recording comes from some cdrs that were made by the sounddesk guys. the end of cd2 has a chill-out mix for some reason on it.

best r&s recording is homelands.

oh, and i saw leftfield at rockness and led festival. my life is complete.

The Homelands recording (I was there on my stag night:)) still rates as my fav live download after all these years.

Got my tickets for Bournemouth in November :)

Damn, you're right - 96, not 95. Stupid mistake - I should have spotted it as I saw them at Southampton at the end of May that year.

Do you mean this footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFH8zeQDc04 for Brixton '96? If so, they didn't film the whole thing unforuntunately, just a few bits and pieces.

Do we know of any copies of the CDRs at higher bitrate, or even FLAC? I'd kill for that ;)

Re: Leftfield recordings thread: that 'old' Leftfield show (begging for a copy)

Just got back form Leftfield's gig in Bournemouth...what a night :))) Has to go down as the loudest gig I have ever been too .. even louder than Silver Column's gig (underworld's support at Brixton) last Saturday.

They rolled out all the favs with special mention to Inspection Check One :) Great energy & the crowd seemed really up for it.

Please stop my bloody ears ringing !

Yeah, 50minutes of Electric Picnic 2010 are available...
Search for "Leftfield live" and "Electric Picnic" and you'll find a link.

Re: Leftfield recordings thread: that 'old' Leftfield show (begging for a copy)

Many thanks for this thread which I stumbled on by chance. As an old Leftfield fan (saw them plenty of times back in the day, think my favourite was Brixton Academy in 98 or 99 I think, so very loud!, my girl-friend at the time freaked out and had to leave as she felt the bass was stopping her breathe!)

With thanks I have just downloaded the Nottingham 1996 gig, Ive always wanted a Liveism recording - wicked and appreciated.

The Electric Picnic Irish download is nice and clear, but without the bass of the Homelands 2000 download.

Looking forward to Leftfield this Friday back at Brixton Academy after all these years, they were great in Hackney LED festival this summer, but as some else says in this thread you get the best volume and bass from them indoors. maybe some of you guys will be there?

Many thanks again and remember You Are Original:)

Re: Leftfield recordings thread: that 'old' Leftfield show (begging for a copy)

yea - the Electric Picnic recording is great...

just too bad it's not the whole show - it's missing "Afrika Shox" and "Phat Planet" (unless they didn't play those that night - which I doubt)

crank 12-02-2010 04:03 PM

Re: Leftfield recordings thread: that 'old' Leftfield show (begging for a copy)

THe new show isn't bad by the way. It's decent, but definitely missing a certain spark.

Misses the start of Song of Life, but includes other material not on the stream rip.

Oh man, I'm so glad I found this forum and thread cruising the interwebs. Anybody know of any places where I can get a flac soundboard for 2010, preferably late 2010? I would give you my kid; I think that's a fair exchange.

FLACs? try Dimeadozen, though the electronic stuff is few and far between, you can subscribe to receive mails. TheMixingBowl may also have what youre looking for.
