Um, I just figured Tom and adam were shooting the shit with each other.

Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
I wish they made still made stuff like My Mercury Mouth. That's a good track.
|
Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
"we are the night" at number 1.
its really nice to see that they're still popular. i like the new album. i think they changed the way of doing things. as an old new order fan, these synths reminds me "tecnique" a lot, i still like the way they cut a song from original 12 inch - like all the early new order 12 inches - i had a feeling that many interesting tracks will come as b side. |

All Rights Reversed rocks my sox.

Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
piss-weak effort imo. lots of chemical-brothers-by-numbers.
'the salmon dance' is a fucking insult. i suppose it's better than their last album; but that set the bar pretty low.last track's pretty nice; but there's an awful lot of dross to wade through to get there. very, very disappointing. |
Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
Oooh.
Salmon Dance is the next single - hahahaha :) |

"A Modern Midnight Conversation" is the official treadmill theme song of the year! This album is not the Chem's best but it's far from terrible.:) Out today in the US, can't wait to pick it up. |

Yup, release day in the States. First CB's album i haven't preordered or picked up release day since, oh, Dig Your Own Hole...makes me sad. Is "Salmon Dance" really going to be the second single? What radio station's gonna play that? I think the Dr. Demento parody program has been off the air for quite a while... |
Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
well - I just got the album today... I did download the tracks a while back, but decided not to listen to it too much - or at all as it got close to the album release date, so it'd still be somewhat 'fresh'
I will say that it can't be their worst album, as it has at least two good tracks on it (unlike Push the Button) [edit] ok wait... are you guys on crazy pills or something????? while - no, this isn't their BEST work ('surrender' in my opinion) but this certainly is UMPTEEN times better than "Push the Button" and you know what? I'd even go as far as to say that the Salmon Dance is better than a good bulk of ptb |

Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
i have been listening to a recording of the Brothers' show from 7/3/07 in Munich, which you can dl here:
http://stealth.to/?id=0n2176o792tlllkincmjg8nf9bpup8 A great setlist, including some tracks from the new album, which actually sound pretty decent mixed in with the classics! 1 - Intro : No Path to Follow 2 - Galvanize 3 - Burst Generator 4 - Do it Again / Get Yourself High mix... 5 - Hey Boy Hey Girl 6 - All Right Reserved 7 - Out of Control / It Doesn't Matter mix / Leftfield - Open Up mix... 8 - Templation/Star Guitar 9 - Surface to Air / Under the Influence / It Doesn't Matter 10 - Saturate 11 - Believe 12 - We are the Night 13 - The Golden Path 14 - EBW7 / Chemical Beats 15 - A Modern Midnight Conversation 16 - The Sunshine Underground |
Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
Yeah I think new tracks sometimes sound better with old tracks. Underworld and New Order livesets are other good examples of this.

Do It Again and Get Yourself High mixed together sound like they are just one song! |
Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
too bad the recording is in wma format :(
and about "how bad" the new album is... you're telling me that: "Saturate (EBW)" "All Rights Reversed" "Salmon Dance" "Burst Generator" "Harpoons" "The Pills Won't Help You Now" are all crap? (Do It Again... isn't bad per se - but that does get a bit too "justin timberlake-y" for me) Push the Button is the ONLY chems album of theirs that I intentionally left off my iPod... I mean - there were only two tracks that I even somewhat dug on it -> Believe (at times, but it's still a bit too 'meh') & the last track (forget the title) |

Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
I've had the last verse of Battle Scars in my head the past week. That, Das Spiegel, and All Rights Reversed are all great tracks no matter what anyone says. The rest ranges from average to good. The Salmon Dance has great beats behind it, but they lyrics don't do much for me. When Fatlip says "Who's hungry?" I always think, "I could go for some salmon."
|
Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
yea - the lyrics are pretty bad on 'the salmon dance' buuuuut
they're nearly not anywhere as bad as on "Galvinize" b/c at least with Salmon Dance, it's supposed to be a bit of a silly track, you know? |

lionjoe - it does have some nice tracks, and is better than 'push the button'; i like 'we are the night' for its sparkles and keep going back to 'the pills won't help you now' because it does everything right (for me) elsewhere, though, there's just so many weak tracks. but if sales keep them touring, then fine! |

And yeah as I've said on many an occasion, I welcome new albums in circumstances like this because it means a tour. |
Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
nah - silly doesn't always mean shit
I mean... take the Digital Underground's "The Humpty Dance" key lyric - "I once got busy in a burger king bathroom" I'd rather take stuff like that than "cause there's a party over here, so you might as well be here, where the people care" |
Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
difference, the humpty dance is good. and the salmon dance sucks so much that it hurts people that haven't even heard it yet
|
Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
Well, even though i told myself not to, i'm a Chemuical brothers completist to this point, so i broke down and bought "We Are the Night" last week.
It is actually growing on me, and on repeated listens, i am finding it more enjoyable, or at least less offputting than Push the Button. :p I'm even making it through "Salmon Dance" without FFW, but mostly just to laugh at how ridiculous it is. Some of the Sammy the Salomn and Fatlip dialog is just too goofy. But the rap and the atari melody are still lame. I find i am really enjoying the faux-live feel of "We Are the Night" and the nice builds of "Saturate", "Burst Generator" and parts of "Modern Midnight Conversation" (could do without the latter's disco queen vocal, though). Still, it's a shame the last two records, and even the new tracks for the 1993-03 collection have taken a while to grow on me and more than a handful of track are just unenjoyable to me. Sad, because i'm the guy with the Chemical Brothers bumper sticker on his auto and still getting big grins from the first 4 records. |

Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
Well, once again, the Grammy Awards give the Chemical Brothers the nod strictly on name recognition, not quality.
"best" electronic album: "We Are The Night". |
Re: new chemical brothers album and tour
f_ck the grammys
seriously they don't count |
