i was thinking about this today and i don't think we're getting the inbetween bits. if they're sticking to 52 tracks maybe they'll put some of the less complete sketches in? there must be some surprises after all.

Guess it depends on what you think it means! Seems a succinct explanation of the Drift series as we've known it thus far. Or am I missing something between the lines about the final album proper?

Wondering if digital release will be full lengths and some on CD will be edited. Only wish the deluxe set had the vinyl release included.

By my count, by next week they'll have produced almost 3:40:00 of video content. That's a lot to stuff onto one Blu-ray. Without Appleshine Continuum, that goes to 2:53:00 which is more doable.

I'd love to know when we'll discover tracklistings, though a part of me doesn't want to know, as when we do, there will be a list of "can't believe they've missed x... or can't believe they've included x... style threads.

They're either finalising the tracklist right now, or it's already done. I can't help thinking we'll know reasonably soon.

I think tracklist is finished now, and sure there won't be EP6. The manufacturing of the physical items should have started now.

Yeah, I'm sure they have the tracklist finalized already. I imagine it'll probably be announced either with the release of the last part this week, or maybe soon thereafter.

I have the tracklist and updated cover art, but there's an embargo until 1:00 p.m. Eastern time on 9/12, so I don't want to piss anyone off. I think it's safe to say everyone will be happy and then some, especially if you ordered the box set. Don't mean to set people off by withholding info, but at least you now know when the info will be released. I can't wait to get this box in my hands.

Much thanks for the date though, because I was trying to use any kind of obscure source or ascap database search to see if I could get a fucking tracklist finally. Knowing it’s coming tomorrow is fantastic.

I AM CONFUSION at the "sampler" that most of the free world will be hearing as their proper album.
edit: now that I've put it in a playlist, it mostly makes sense, yeah. still... nothing from EP 1 has me feeling weird.

give us the rest of those discs!

according to iTunes,

appleshine gets a minute shaved off
drum street goes from 6 minutes to 4:25
listen to their no and border country are essentially the same
mile bush pride (the ONE I wanted to develop for a few more minutes!) gets cut down to 1:34, right as it gets into the alarm bit!
schiphol test gets cut almost in half
BYTWB gets its full 6 minutes back
the rest is as it was before

The announcement says "DRIFT Series 1 collects the entire body of work and will be made available digitally on the 1-year anniversary of the first release. The DRIFT Series 1 Sampler Edition comes out the same day."

So, I take that to mean the entire boxset will be available digitally, and I assume on streaming too, since streaming plays make up a big part of music revenue these days.

It looks like there will be quite a bit of material that is exclusive to the eariler Episode releases. For example, DUST was mostly mixed and edited together, and that is all changed in the boxset.

Another Silent Way / Drift Poem / Better Than Diamonds (previously unreleased) - I wonder if this is the "You and me, you and me, nothing's on track" version.

I'm a bit surprised that Dune didn't make the sampler/album, and I can't believe Imagine a Box is on there.

"A Moth at the Door" is a new track. Maybe a prequel to "Holding the Moth" ??

Also worth mentioning that "A Very Silent Way" is not on EP1 anymore which suggests there will be one disc of Necks collabs (and we probably already know what 47 minutes of it is gonna be)


seems like the boys did not know where this was all going to lead which might explain why the first 2 EPs are reconfigured somewhat.


just to speculate a bit, I'm guessing that "Appleshiner" might be the coda bit from the original track. on the sampler Appleshine is cut by about a minute which I would imagine is that part. I would also guess that several of the 'unreleased tracks' are not really entirely new pieces but rather riffs or original versions of other tracks. of course in Underworld terms this could mean they're basically new tracks (how many versions of "Dark & Long", "Pearls Girl", and "Always Loved a Film" are there?)

Really excited for this expanded boxset, especially the extras and perhaps some reconfigurations of tracks. The Sampler album has ehat we'd expected ( LTTN, Border) and a few surprises or head scratchers (edits, Mile High Bush and Imagine a Box seem incomplete, though maybe they get reworked; BYTWB is not my favorite of the ambient/wordless tracks from Drift; STAR is fun, but features recycled sounds...maybe all Drift tracks are built of bits abandoned or reused over the years, but this one blatantly so). But I trust the boys that the Sampler is how they want to represent themselves to casual fans and am quite grateful for the expanded EPs, Blu-ray and book.

Yes, that would make sense of what the seventh disc will be (I was really hoping CD7 would be the Manchester Sound Poem soundtrack, but sadly not) - also the only way to get Continuum on it without cutting it down. I'm glad BYTWB is there in full this time. I'd imagine A Moth at the Door will be one of the bonuses on CD4 or 5, much like Do Breakers Trip is. I wonder if we'll get the original version of Soniamode on there somewhere. CD2 on the Japanese version is a really bizarre run of songs.


The 'sampler' edition (interesting phrasing - they seem to be less inclined to call this a proper album now) seems to be weighted very much more towards the later episodes:

Does anyone know if the "boxset" edition will be available digitally at all? I pre-ordered the physical version of the sampler, but I just can't swing 60gbp (plus shipping to the states) for the physical boxset.
iTunes already shows a pre-order for the digital version of the sampler, but that's it.
