Re: Daft Punk live is a must see

I'll repeat the praise for Daft Punk. I'm an old school fan of theirs, i.e. I hate the last album, didn't even buy it, and Discovery was hit or miss. I really had no expectations for this show, it was either gonna be lazy and dumb or out of this world. It was way out of this world.
You've all seen the pics and video, but being in the crowd was insane. The tent was packed, which surprised me. I figured it would be full, but it was very full and everyone was really into it. They played nonstop for 40 minutes before they paused for a few seconds. During that pause, the crowd yelled and screamed so loud, you could feel it. Then another roar came up that was louder than the first. It was amazing.
The track selection was fun and some songs that weren't played in full were sampled. Standouts for me were Technologic with the Busta Rhymes mash-up and Da Funk. Crescendolls was really fun too.
As for the encore thing, the reason people were hanging out so long clapping, aside from the amazing show, was that the pyramid kept doing shit after the show. So most of us thought more might be coming. But they did play over an hour and it sounded great.
DO NOT MISS this show if you have the chance to see it. I spent a lot of money I don't have to get there, and it was completely worth it for Daft Punk alone.

That was the greatest performance since Moses went up on that hill to talk to that bush.

Nah, the sound at the Moses show was shithouse. And he looked like he was off his face, propped up against the mic like that.

Plus, he dropped commandments 11-15 when he came down from the mountain ;)

and then failed to deliver 16-20, despite 30 years of clapping and shouting from the isrealites...

I've been watching all the videos circulating from this show and they make me cry. I would've loved to be there.

I also hated their last album-- felt like they forced a third album and didn't feel like them at all. Aside from Technologic, what other tracks did they play from the new album? How were they live compared to on the CD?

what's with the hating on their last album?

I mean - it was in the spirit of their first, and "Technologic" "Robot Rock" "Emotion" "Human After All" "Television Rules the Nation" and "Steam Machine" were all great songs... wait, that's almost the whole album... yea

I just think they overused the heavy guitar sound. Their first album had a mixture of different sounds to it. Human After All felt like they had a small bank of sounds that they used for every track.

Everytime I hear Technologic, it reminds me of a Kinko's advert, with its "fax it, print it, ship it." Also, kind of sounds like a different version of Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.
