to me: a collectible is a 12" from 1992... not a cd from this year... that is just wrong.

just curious, but how many people do
you really think are that interested
in instrumentals? besides a small handfull..

how many other instrumental albums have they had before
based on album? NONE

yes, there are some instrumental versions in the
remixes..and some of the songs are mostly
instrumental anyways, so how different do you
think those would be?

again, it's mostly a licensing issue..and
i'm sure if you wanted to use them in commercials, etc.
they would be happy to see that...

Is this some poetic meter I'm not aware of?
Regardless, how much would it cost them to put something like this up digitally on Underworldlive? It's not like CD's; if they only sold one a year they'd still turn a profit on it. So why not?

i really don't think it's an issue of money..
it's more of interest, and control of the
distribution of it..

i write this following on a viewing of Everything;Everything and the Barlking videos DVD. Frankly, i'd rather hear a collection of B-Sides or alternate takes (given for Barking) than instrumental mixes. Boring! I love hearing Karl's voice and lyrics. A stripped down vocal mix seems very karoake to me, esp. if i know the full vocal version. Would much rather hear something entirely different. Collectible or not, who cares if it's a derivative of what everyone else has already heard?

that's probably why the alternate versions were included in the deluxe boxset
as opposed to just the instrumentals.. because it's more interesting to most
people to hear those..

I've always had a bit of a problem with this sort of 'manufactured collectibles' kind of thing.
But then, I suppose it's released now so that it'll be collectible in ten years.
The point is, I would kill to get a copy of this! (but not pay $60, go figure)

Also, 'sup dirty forums, just pretend I've always been here.

Some of you seem to have missed the fact that this was never intended for general public consumption. It's a promotional disc from the label intended for music licensing purposes (TV commercials and the like). They didn't specifically release it like this to make it hard for you to get. You were never the intended audience for this.

yep - i agree...

like most 'promotinal' versions tbh, radio edits being the most recognisable... most fans here hate shortened versions of the epics but 'edits' are a must have for radio stations, and as such are better produced by the band themselves than some dj just chopping a track to make it fit. (hence radio edits on promo cd's)

these radio edits get released via promo - but again are not intended for public comsumption, collectors hunt them down for uniqueness and collectabilty but they are nothing more than oddities of the industry rather than 'releases' by the band...

i was an aviid collector back in the day, and would have grabbed the instrumentals disc just to have it, but its not essential, not worth putting up for sale online and not worthy of discussion tbh... yet I do have them on file, i certainly wouldn't pay for them and certainly don't expect the band to release them...(i don't really listen to them either - i just have them 'there') they are not what was intened for release, and generally won't ever be considered 'back catalogue', unlike alternative versions which are generally work in progress type tracks and much more worthy of inclusion.

if we make the case for these to be put for sale, we could argue everything that UW have recorded should be sold to us... the decision has been made that these are not for sale - so accept it and move along ;)

I really only want it for one track... Diamond Jigsaw (since I am a such super fan of that track)

I refuse to pay $60.00 USD or more for 1 track... so sad.
