lol.
i paid $3000 + to see UW in the UK.
that didn't work out so good.
i'd pay $100 to see them in Toronto anytime soon.
( i'd pay $250 if i could meet them ).;)

the college stations will start promoing this on their entertainment calendars in march, and then you'll see the regular fans (as opposed to superfans who already have tickets) buy in. and you'll get the armchair fans who really liked trainspotting and/or sunshine and just like going to any and all shows.

Does anyone in ATL know if the venue allows cameras? I NEED some Underworld pics. I left it in the car in Denver, didn't think they'd let me take it in...

Every gig allows cameras if you hide'm! :)

Just put the camera in the crotch of your pants, they won't pat you there.

Liquified is probably one of the best EDM promoters left in the U.S. Glad they are throwing the event. They do alot of eflier promotion. My wife got one w/ pic of R & K posing with giant sunflowers. I believe they said that there were only 250 tix left the week after they went on sale. Even though this is during peak WMC period, I'm pretty sure it will sell out by the day of the show. I've got half a dozen friends driving up from FL.

The venue looks great. Never been in the main room of the old Earthlink Live, but have heard djs upstairs in The Loft.

We have a large gang of 20+ going that I haven't seen in one place since my wedding. Like Denver, we're gonna need limo. Woot!

Re: Underworld visits ATL

i dreamed about this show last night.

it was in a little tiny venue and the only people there were people from this board, my husband and i, and a few of my coworkers. rick and karl came in, and karl was carrying a little 2 year old girl in his arms. because there were so few people there he let her wander around the small crowd as they set up. the dirties took good care of her. they played peachtree while a big screen showed the cowgirl video. then i was thinking i should stop in the restroom before the show really got underway, but i was afraid i'd miss something good. just then they started playing something like a mama, which i don't like, so i figured that was a good sign that it was save to leave the room for a moment. then i woke up.

quite possibly the nerdiest dream i've ever had. :o

Started a new job and I was sweating that they wouldn't give me the time off.....but luckily they made the exception and gave me a half day off. Plus I get my 1st check on the day of the show, so I suppose I might be able to afford to stay in Atlanta. Where is a decent (aka not Bates but not a Hilton) Hotel in a nice area around there??

I once had a dream that Underworld was guest-teaching a music theory class at my college. Although, there wasn't much "teaching" involved. They basically just played a live show and the class danced, haha.

None of my classmates knew who Underworld was, so I was mad at them.

a couple of questions to see if i can even go or not:

1. they are starting at 8- but someone is opening for them, correct?
2. how long will the opening act take?

The inside word I've heard from a friend has told me the band will take the stage around 10PM. The opening dj, Ian James, is very good. Liquified's website says 8PM-3AM, but my printed tickets say 9PM. I would guess the opening dj will play from when doors open til the guys take the stage. Still not sure if doors are at 8PM or 9PM. I'd say Ian plays 1-2 hours tops. I went to both Denver & Central Park and both openers played for about an hour.

For those looking to dance some more after the show, my friend Kazell (opener for Sasha & Digweed on upcoming North American tour) is playing not very far away in Midtown at WetBAR. Excellent dj! Liquified is also throwing this event. Club has excellent sound system and layout. I think he goes on around midnight.

Call the venue. They usually have the schedule.

whoa whoa- they're playing 'till 3 AM?

Re: Underworld visits ATL

3am, dear god. I've got a 4 hour drive after the show. Oh well. It's worth it to see UW.

Also, center stages website states doors at 8pm, show at 9pm. I think I'm going to need a nap between sets.

gillenium 03-16-2008 12:33 AM

Re: Underworld visits ATL

How in the holy hell could they play till 3:00 AM? Everyone would be on the floor, writhing in pain. I'm sure that just means that the club will be open until 3:00 AM for people who want to continue the party. Clubs are usually open until about 3:00 or 4:00.

geoff 03-16-2008 03:11 PM

Re: Underworld visits ATL

I hope to god it really means they're playing that long.

5 hr set + small venue = legendary show :D

Someone at the venue should know, I'll call them tomorrow.

sunflowereye 03-16-2008 04:15 PM

Re: Underworld visits ATL

My guess is that UW will play 2 maybe 2 1/2 hours & either the opener will return to play tunes til the club closes or the event will be over after UW finishes. The event is 18+ so they may keep the party going after the guys finish. Pretty sure we'll get a 2 hour set like all the recent shows, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for a longer show. :]

lectoid 03-16-2008 07:19 PM

Re: Underworld visits ATL

Also, if they have to be in Miami the following night, I don't know about a 5 hour set.

gillenium 03-16-2008 11:57 PM

Re: Underworld visits ATL

No chance. They don't have the time. I wouldn't want a 5-hour show anyway. That'd be like a 5-hour album. Some things are better in smaller, neater packages.

However, no CD recording means that UW can play as long as they want! I'd say a 2+ hour show is definitely possible.

Maybe what the late closing time means that Underworld won't need to worry about running against some set curfew like the European shows. They wouldn't need to run thru the last few songs at warp speed.

Just my two pennies.

Hahah, funny you say that, my wife was going to come, but she's not now. She's pregnant and isn't that big of a fan... so i sold my ticket to a buddy who'll be much better to go with.

Re: Underworld visits ATL

I looked at my ticket order page just now and it said "Seat: 137". I ordered my ticket on 3/10 (yes, I know, I am ashamed). I know it's general admission, but I wonder if I was the 137th person to buy a ticket. Or if it just randomly assigns one of ~1,100 seats that the venue is rated for. I know they use this so they can keep track of how many are left, but the thought of 150 people would be cool because it would almost be like a private performance.

Wishful thinking, but anyone have any insight?

I bought my ticket as soon as they went on sale throught the pre-sale. Mine says g1 seat 30. maybe there are different sections such as g1, g2, etc?

how did you purchase your ticket? it's possible that they were sold to vendors in blocks so the number might have more to do with the fact that the vendor who sold to you was responsible for selling seats 100-150 or whatever. just speculation but i sincerely doubt only 137 people have bought tickets.

btw, i just checked my tickets and they say g1 seats 110 and 111. and we bought ours, what, the day they went on sale i think.

i bought our tix the morning they went on sale and we have G5 55 and 56 on our tix.

i, too, would have a hard time believing only a little over a hundred have been sold. i would imagine the place will be pretty full, but if not that is ok. when we saw mike patton there with his peeping tom project, it was maybe 1/2-3/4 full and the venue's upper-most and side-most seats were blocked off so it seemed more full than it was. not crowded feeling, though....

edit: sorry bout that! 2nd glass of scotch at the end of long workday makes my brain a poor calander!!

I bought my ticket off of ticketmaster. I just got it in the mail today and it says "G5 137".

I know there'd be more than 137 people show up, I was just saying how cool it would be if that's all there was.

So does anyone know whether or not we'll be able to buy a CD of the concert in Atlanta that night?

gillenium 03-22-2008 10:42 PM

Re: Underworld visits ATL

I would pay full price for a mediocre recording burnt onto a blank CDR... but alas, I don't think Liveherenow is coming, so we won't get a recording.
