I hope there is a 3rd round - I will be all over it. I can't believe I missed the first two :(

Edit: oh, heavens. They sold out in TEN MINUTES?

I will keep watching but I suspect that all I can hope for is that I'll one day come across the tracks somewhere else...

My cd (or rather a slim jiffy bag) was on the doormat when I got in from work @ 7pm this eve (fri) - wot an amazing start to a long b'hol w/e - listening as I type - oh golly!!! - u/w (karl, rick, and darren em & pricey) are simply ...... words don't come close - karl sums it up during "juanita" when he shouts "ricky in the groooooovvve!!!"

Absolutely fantastically fabulous!

Thank you karl, rick, and both darrens x

Not at all. Some of the low points: JAL's vocoder is terrible live, Karl butchers Spoonman during King of Snake, Aquafunk is gay, and even some of the classics are lame as all hell here (2 months off, Skyscraper, Spikee). I could give a full review of it all but it's not even worth it. I would just say get Scribble and Fears off of this and not worry about the rest.

It's good and all but not GREAT SUPER WOW like most here are babbling.:):(

Awwwwwwwww..

Seriously, though. This is a LIVE album. As in ON STAGE FOR THREE HOURS.

I thought Spikee was awesome, most particularly for the crowd participation in it, and Karl's response to it. Vocorder is vocorder - again, live, the experience is going to be completely different than from the highly- tweaked studio version(s). Aquafunk - les gouts et les couleurs. I like it. I enjoy dancing to it. I enjoy it live. If you think it's gay, that is your opinion, although I am not quite sure what you mean by "gay".

How come is Aquafunk gay? Speaking as a gay man myself I fail to see the connection (ok, the opening spoken line is by a guy who says he is a girl). Mongoose is, of course, entitled to an opinion but I would like to hear his/hers reasons

I am a princess
And I am a girl
And I am sister
And this is my horse

Actually I think it is on the Zurich gig that Karl sings:
I'm a princess
I'm a little girl
I am a sister
And this is poney

Does that make anyone gay?

NO!

It is a random sample, like all the others, that may have meaning for someone in the band.

Re: live underworld tokyo 2005 cd on ebay round: 2

i'm pretty sure oxide/mongoose meant the word gay in the hilariously overused sense of just deriding something in particular.

i.e:
"here's no meat in my burrito"
"that's hella gay"

a few years ago this might be depressing to hear, but now it's kinda funny because everyone knows how retarded and gay using that word is.

then again, mongoose is kind of an idiot who plugs washed out 90's groups to everyone and links the trailers to shit movies all the time, so he's hella gay too.

gay-ass opinions being tossed around in the GAYEST way possible

I guess it's a matter of taste, but I absolutely LOVE JAL's weird vocoded vocals.

And to be honest, I AM thinking "GREAT SUPER WOW", because all the new ones (Back In The Fears, Peggy Sussed and Lenny Penne) are simply AMAZING.

I like it how he does the Spoonman lyrics in KoS, because I have heard Karl do the "fire in the hand between us" thing quite a lot, so this was a nice change.

Further more, I want to say that I actually REALLY dig Pearl's Girl on here. It's quite short, but the fact that it's only the beat, bassline and vocals and nothing more, has something really bad-ass to it. Hmmm!

He does have a cool version of New Order's Substance on laserdisc. But $165 is too much for the 3CD set.

you can't tell them not to support this person. well unless you give them another alternative. like i used in my example earlier, if BSS hadnt gotten one of the 'official release' on ebay, you can be sure he'd have been bidding on this one.

if its not widely available, then the ebay sellers are always gonna win out in the end. someone will always want it that badly.

now, if he was selling a CDR version of say, Cologne, we can say not to buy it from him. But this is an official, and rare release. its the real deal.

this is fair comment, because if they were not available in these batches at £15 each, then the only ones for sale would be from people who acquired them at the gigs, and as such i would be bidding on some....

Although - when this was first released, i did see some for sale on ebay, before i had my copy, and didn't bid because even then, the price was too high for me...stupid money

Generally, I weigh up the quantity of an item against the price, and see if its worth it, like the mmm skyscraper CD singles, there was no way i'd pay £75 for one, but i didn't have a copy until last year, but it cost me £15...i'd have gone to £30 but not more because its not worth that much and my waiting paid off as i got one relatively cheaply, and so waiting for this Tokyo CD set has paid off too, because almost everyone who really wanted one got one at a decent price....its not always the case, but patience does pay off...

i knew i could get a Tokyo CD somehow, and did, likewise, mmm skyscraper...but even i have limits on price on somethings

there will be some who don't have this and the only outlet will be via ebay...and if they pay over the odds then its their own choice...

ebay is a strange, but fairly freemarket and if someone wants to charge $100 for a Cd that people could quite easily get for £15 then thats up to them...

i never really did like ECG that much. haven't listened to it in years though.

i dont know if this set is better than EE, i can feel the beats better when i pop EE on than on this one, but it is a much stronger performance overall.

mmm skyscraper 05-04-2006 10:24 AM

Re: live underworld tokyo 2005 cd on ebay round: 2

The problem with EE is that it is not one continuous set.

What songs aren't in this set that have been played live? Dark & Long, Air Towel, Confusion the Waitress, Bruce Lee, Trim, Luetin, Twist, Cherry Pie, Born Slippy (original), Oich Oich. Any more?

The ECG set is cool for the dark and long / dark train mix that incorporates almost all the parts of that song. Also cherry pie!

I got an email from someone this morning saying it was for sale on ebay. I assume it was the person selling it for $165. Screw that. At least I know the guy's name now though. I tried replying to his email to say that the price is ridiculous, but for some reason, my reply bounced back as undeliverable. Whatever.
