Everyone's forgetting Poltergeist! Still probably one of the scariest films ever made!

-The tree out your bedroom window
-the guy's face chunking off into the sink
-the fucking clown doll in the bedroom
-the corpses in the pool
-zelda rubenstien

come on!

Count another one in for Signs. I can manage horror/terror films pretty well because unfortunately the tricks are repeated over and over (you know something's gonna happen when the girl is having a shower or when the guy walks in a dark place sort of thing)

BUT

the 'they are inside the house' part scared the fucking shit out of me, specially watching it in a cinema with surround sound, and the video footage from the brazilian birthday party was one of the most effective scenes I can recall from a movie. The whole movie was scary because it was so different from your regular 'alien flick'. You wouldn't see F22's blasting missiles to huge alien spaceships and epic battles in urban environments.... all you had was people in the countryside with aluminium foil helmets and glasses of water. That down to earth feeling made the whole movie very very scary for me because it was credible.

Irreversible also had a couple all-time moments scary in their own way too.

Gore scares me I guess.. realistic gore. Not campy stupid gore like Hostel.

Hostel was a laugh riot for me.

Zombie's Halloween was disturbing about 30 min. in then laugh, then nostalgic, then all out laugh riot.

Oh man, count me for this one too. It gives me chills. Something about the realism and the hysteria and this sense of vague unknown menace.

When I was little I was creeped out by the movie Nothing But Trouble. Now, that seems absolutely ridiculous, but when you're 6, the whole carnival death ride seems pretty scary. Does anyone know what I'm talking about here?

Angel Heart the first time I saw it - I think I was 10? Everything clicked at just the right moment. The Ring - the remake version. For some reason I bought into the illusion.

The Village was doing great until the twist. After the twist it just felt sad and pathetic and really...inhumane?

There is a difference between scary and revolting though. Realistic gore normally turns my insides out kinda like watching footage of a surgery, I don't find it scary at all though.

Scary scene on a movie: Poltergeist, the little girl staring at the static channel on TV. It did not make me jump or anything but after watching the movie as a kid, it made me really uneasy to see the tv with static...
