Re: Diamond Jigsaw Single Information and Ordering Links
Disclaimer: I don't like the original. Generic beat, generic guitar, generic vocals = generic vocal house (with "vocal house" being the most insulting genre label an electronic-music song may attain).

Re: Diamond Jigsaw Single Information and Ordering Links
seriously how many remixes, original or not, are liked by fans of the band or any band, they are there to serve a purpose, but really not worth assessing each one, people like to add their own remixes - and play them out so that the track fits in a set, and in all honesty most dj's rarely play the original, as its usually too radio - hence millions of dodgy mixes.
whatever mixes do officially surface - one or two might please one or two fans, but thats about it. i love remixes, more music and variations, but are they better than the original - almost never... compare and judge away, but don't expect enjoyment from the experience remixes in the internet age are meaningless megabytes in the system, use them wisely, i say |
Re: Diamond Jigsaw Single Information and Ordering Links
I think I see what you're getting at BSS...
There absolutely has (in this day and age) been a glut of too many remixes of tracks, where QUANTITY outweighs QUALITY having said that - there are some bands that seem to still overtly try to 'seek out' certain producers who can/will remix tracks to a level that are "at least as good" / "better" than the original... Depeche Mode springs to mind for example. on the flip side - UNKLE (in recent years) seem to just try to get as many remixes as possible out of a single track (and most of them are crap) what's so disappointing about the remixes off of the "Barking" tracks - is that: A) We KNOW that there are unreleased tracks from the album, or at least songs from sessions that led up to the album. B) I always thought the point of "Barking" was that it was supposed to be a 'dialogue' between UW and the other producers, where UW would give a track to someone, they'd give it back, and then UW would do "a version of their version" (which I don't really think happened) C) Actually decent remixes of the "Barking" singles have been few and far between... Like SBTRKT's "Bird1" Breakage's "Always Loved a Film" ... but beyond that... not so much... |

Re: Diamond Jigsaw Single Information and Ordering Links
I fell in love with DiaJig (my nickname for it) with this video, i love the vibe of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sM3Z2...e_gdata_player I think the closest thing released so far is the demo. On other fantasies: I think they should beg Steve Reich to do a remix of DiaJig... I think it would be brilliant to hear a pulsed out version, but don't get me wrong they really should release vanhalenvanhalen version(synth version) |
